20m FTP test time off by 1s, but only in TrainerRoad

I did a 20m FTP indoor test. It was timed and recorded. Garmin recorded it as 20m on the nose. As did the trainer timer.

The sync from Garmin Connect → Intervals also shows the duration as 20m even. (just to check it’s not some sync glitch).

But TR shows it as 19:59s…meaning it’s ignored for fun PR’s like “20m max avg power” and my Power Rankings.

Is there a way to force update it that 1s?

This doesn’t help you this time, but I always add a few seconds to any ride I do for exactly this reason.

Hopefully someone else can help you edit this file.

yeah, I didn’t have control of it. It was an “FTP Ride” on the trainer. So they time it and the ride ends at exactly 20m…even though I pedal through it.

If you did continue to pedal manually upload the fitness file. You will have to delete the one off by a second.

I think there are ways to manually edit .fit files but it’s not easy or it might take a tool that costs money.

Did you have another ride that you did before this? Like a warmup ride or something? If you download the two .fit files you can use the tool below to combine them into one file, then you can reupload that to TR and delete the originals.

Hey there,

Your best bet will probably be to use the Fit FIle Tools that @mwglow15 posted above. I saw on your TR account that it does look like you had a separate warmup file for that FTP test, so if you stitch those two files together and reupload them, that should do the trick.

I’ll also ask my colleagues if they have any alternative ideas – that’s the top one that pops into my head, though.

I’ll check out the tools, maybe I can manually edit the FIT too to just add one more event.

I think if I stitch them, the warmup would be considerably less power…I assume TR would take the 20m window with the highest average in that case?

Yes, it will just take the highest 20m power, so it would just take an extra second off of your warmup.

I have the same sort of thing, in reverse

My TR workouts show the time in TR as expected, but intervals lops a second off.

Today, for example, was Perkins-1. TR has it as a 2 hr ride. Intervals (which gets the ride from TR via dropbox) has it at 1:59:59

Hey there, just wanted to let you know that one of my colleagues got your 20m test sorted out to the full 20m! You shouldn’t have to use the Fit File Tools.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Is there a way to make up 20 minutes so I have a good ftp? Unfortunately, my data isn’t wrong! I’m just slow.
