Specialized taking the piss. Imagine dropping that much on an aluminum 105 bike lmao.
I know buying from Canyon has it’s risks, but the one with Force is more than the equivalent carbon Aeroad. I guess sometimes you want what you want.
Still looking forward to seeing some sharp builds from the framesets with cool paint.
I think the State I linked above is what is needed for crit/road racing and well road in general.
But there’s also this compared to the 3K 105 Sprint:
It’s pretty much the same spec that they were recently selling for $2300. Absurd. Specialized pricing has unfortunately gotten absurd across the board.
Do we know how the weights compare to the sl7 pro and sworks frames?
And old sprint discvs new sprint disc.
Shame how much weight disc brakes have added in general
I believe it said 1500g or so, which would be a big increase from the old frame which is around 1100 I think. SWorks Tarmac frames run around 650-750 I think
They say 1511g with “hardware” not sure if that is frame/fork and parts etc. It’s not very clear but 400g up from the old one is a lot if that is the fact.

yea but 1100 was rim brake
I would think this refers to the headset parts that are required to use the frame.
Not sure if a tarmac has those extra bits too
edit: is this including the fork? and the pro is rated 920g. How the heck is my allez so light and tarmac builds I’ve seen are heavier
edit2 lol:
Frame: Specialized Allez Sprint Disc 1367grams
Fork Specialized Allez Sprint Disc 435grams
Haha I have a disc brake 2020 Allez Sprint, and it is my favorite bike even though it’s 3 lbs heavier than my Tarmac. Weight isn’t everything.
Seriously? I have a 2020 Allez Sprint disc too. I love it because it’s cheap, but have no illusion that it is better than a Tarmac. That bike is lighter, more compliant and more aero.
The ride just has a lot of character, feel like I’m racing every time I ride it. And I decked it out in full ENVE and di2 ![]()
People will pay it and they know it. I’d expect at least Ultregra or Force mechanical on a build for $3,000.
Tbh, I almost pulled the trigger on the frameset only option but my current build is rim brakes and without a rim brake frame option I’d need to buy new wheels as well.
To add a little more drama to this release, I went and talked to my team shop owner and if he ordered any. Apparently Spesh really shafted them with this bike. They told him LAST WEEK the bike is months from release but then after release when he saw the part numbers, they are using a 2021 model number. So they knew for a long time.
He was also unable to order any for his shop and had about 6 people unable to buy from him. It’s direct customer buy with option to ship to store, so he makes much less margin on the bike. Kinda sucks when you see these price increases going straight to Spesh with even less going to the shops.
I race for a Spesh team and I asked about the Allez when I heard rumors of it (last week) and he told me he couldn’t even order them, they were all reserved for direct.
He is a Tier 1 shop, the highest you can go. They are giving them the shaft IMO.
not specific to specialerized but…
it seems like particularly dirty pool to be in the business of buying up struggling bike shops, while at the same time taking steps to make it harder for them to have things to sell.
Or more sensibly, literally any bike from another manufacturer.
Yup…
this is exactly what i thought it would happen when the direct to consumer was announced. Raise the prices. Keep all the profits.
A very natural outcome. Not much else for them to do. Few consumers will love it, but they aren’t a charity.
I dont disagree. They are in the business of making money. And its not like they are hurting by slow sales.
But as a consumer it hurts. The current market makes me look like a genius because I got $6k Diamonback Andean last year.

When I was getting into the sport seriously I got myself an AL bike with basic shimano wheels and 105. You know, start simple, test the waters.
I paid 999$. Max 1200$ todays money.
