2021 USAC Pro Road Nationals tracking

Looks like it’s going to play out using the same formula…

I don’t know if they have the firepower, but it looks like a few of the teams are doing better of sticking together just behind them.

It’s a long race, so we’ll see.

Or we’ll just see Sam And Ty rip apart the field again by turning this into a team TT. I think more teams here are more practiced team wise.

If this group can work together, they might be able to keep L39ion on the back foot.

Cory off the back? L39ion falling apart a little. Aevolo has 9 riders… lots of people to sacrifice.

Edit: Nevermind.

I didn’t realize that McCabe would be racing. I thought he was a retired pro.
Also, I like how they’re showing Justin in the amateurs stars and stripes during the pro race. Like they’re deliberately trying to trigger people…. :joy:

I thought the same thing.

Starting to get messy up front….

Starting to see some cohesive attacks against L39ion. A lot of looking around by them and looks like Cory and someone else got separated some.

Teams starting to line up.

Edit: back together.

This should be a better finish than the Tulsa races.

See Quinn Simmons moving up.

:open_mouth:

Well that was a finish, but L39ion was in trouble at the end, looked like Cory was left by himself.

Teams working as teams plus a crash by Travis.

Cory was caught in that crash as well. A buddy of mine was posted up in that area of the course watching the race and said that when Cory got up, he said “Man, that was my jersey.”

Here’s a picture my friend sent me:

EDIT: Giving credit with his tweet.

It looked like he was just next to Travis? Looked like he was going to be about third or fourth wheel

Looks like Cory is sock doping in that picture.

People have the last lap or so posted on IG. Let me find it…

I was watching on FloBikes. Cory was in the group of 5 off the front after the 3rd to last corner, and he was positioning to about 3rd wheel for the second corner on the outside, and by the time they switched the cam, he wasn’t there, and then there was the pile up in the corner.

Not sure what caused the crash unless somebody has an IG story or video from the side of the course.

Tolley doing commentating on his feed said it looked like one of the Wildlife Gen. guys lost the front or pushed Cory into the barriers.

Justin posting on IG how the rest of the peloton is dead to him now. I mean, I’m sure there is a lot we can’t see / hear, but I saw teams actually working as teams this time. That said Cory was in a position to win.

I’m sure we’ll get the GoPro footage soon enough.

Rough showing for Legion. Welcome to the big leagues I guess. Sucks to see any big crash in a national championship with so much on the line. Tough day.

Yeah I wanted to see that play out.

Happens just before he gets there, but great positions gained

Scrubbing back and forth it seems like the the rider to the outside of Cory came in at an aggresive angle at the outside, and leaned hard on him, essentially forcing him down

It’s pretty obvious that the riders in front are taking a similar line and the guy from the outside appears to try to get around in time and wasn’t able to (edited for clarity)

It also looks like the eventual winner happened to narrowly avoid the crash to the left of Cory?
