So I have a 4 hour endurance mountain bike race this Saturday. When I first created my training plan it was the only event I was registered for so I made it my “A” event. I have been pretty consistently training for several months and am feeling very well prepared for the race. But the thing that is concerning me is the last workout, the day before the race. It currently has me set to perform an 1:15 of Sweet Spot “Tallac +1”.
I did this same race last year and trainer road had me do Laurel” a 30 minute opener the day before. The opener honestly seems more appropriate as I taper into this event but maybe my logic is flawed?
I am fitter than I was a year ago, could that be the cause for the suggested longer hard workout? Or is this possibly a bug stemming from the recent updates?
I emailed support over the weekend but haven’t heard back yet. I’m currently thinking I will see how I feel Friday morning and likely just delete the Sweet Spot and do openers instead.
Agree I wouldn’t do this before a key event. Similar to you I have had success with Laurel the day before an event as well, if I were you I’d just run it back with Laurel as well.
I honestly don’t recall seeing an option to “add openers” I can’t imagine that I wouldn’t have selected that. But I agree, tapering off and openers seems appropriate.
Did you have multiple A races in your plan? The new setup to enable dynamic endurance only allows one A race per plan. I’d add the openers and replace the sweet spot.
I emailed support on Saturday and have yet to get a reply. I feel like tomorrow should really be the start of my taper since I have workouts tomorrow and Friday before the event. Hence the reason I’m trying to get some opinions to help me make an informed decision today. I would love it if I heard back from the experts in support before then but it isn’t looking like that’s going to happen.
I guess I don’t really have an A race at the moment. I usually only do a handful of races a year. This would probably be my A for the spring but I will likely be looking to perform well come May/June.
I’m also more of a light user. I just like to set it and forget it and have never really gotten too into the weeds when setting up/selecting plans. That’s on me for sure and if I had a little more time I would like to better understand how to tune it more appropriately.
I think what happened is that you had multiple A races in the plan. If you change it to a B race and allow it to adapt it might fix it.
@Caro.Gomez-Villafane did TR send out communications to people that had multiple A races in a plan? Feels like every week or so there is an example of it. It might not have been clear to users how to remediate.
Yep that worked! Super jealous you’re doing Mayhem, I looked into that this year (I’ve done some of that endurance series in the past) but family events in the way this year. Hope you crush it!
It’s a good race to dust off the cobwebs and I usually know a good handful of others doing it which is always fun. I’m not crazy about going around in circles on that track for 4/4.5 hours though.
Finished 6th last year. I’d like to get onto the podium this year but it’s tough to say who shows up for these early season races and what kind of form they’ll have. If I have a clean run I should handily stomp my time from last year.
I think I’m pretty well squared away for Saturday. I deleted the Wednesday workout and for some reason the Friday workout just disappeared on its own. I then Cookie cutter pasted in the last two workouts TR gave me before this same race last year. I called an audible at the end of yesterday’s first interval though and backed off the intensity. I was tasting blood and working what seemed like too hard.
