Just did my 1st synced Z and TR workout today. All went fine except my H10 lost connection about 2/3 of the way through. After just having a heart attack I thought maybe I should back off. Did not have my watch on to monitor it.
Anyway I ended my workout and both Z and TR showed my workouts but neither synced to Strava. Any ideas?
Ensure you have zwift connected to your strava account in the zwift connections section.
Yeah. If you accept the adaptations, the changes get pushed to Zwift.
I did my first workout since the integration of the two apps. My workout was Half Dome. It was brilliant! Everything worked perfectly. Congrats to both the Zwift and TR teams. The two subs are a bit pricey, but provide tremendous value - for me at least. Together Zwift and TrainerRoad have everything I need for virtual training. Now for some warmer weather and outdoor rides!!!
Definitely have it connected
That was always a minor annoyance I had with Zwift. It always rounded things up to the next highest five-watt interval.
This didn’t make it in yesterday, but likely in the next couple of hours!
Do you have Zwift connected to Strava?
My comment was that to see/accept adaptions, you must check TR, correct? Then if you accept them, you will see them in Zwift.
For example, on Monday, I started my specialty block of training. Since adaptions only occur within a block, I did not see the 18 adaptions until I opened TR for my ride on Monday. The thing is, I opened TR. I would have received zero adaptions if I went straight to Zwift.
I already asked He does.
True! Made the mistake of opening up the TR app to look at something while doing my workout on Zwift. Needless to say they don’t play nice with each other!
First off, great work by everyone involved - finally no need to set up the iPad with TR and the AppleTV with Zwift, ensure that connections are working as intended, and then delete one set of activities in Strava/Garmin post workout. One could almost argue that the time saved compensates for the extra cost of having two subscriptions!
I had my debut with your new setup today, and for the most part it worked flawlessly. I did however experience one hickup, and I believe that the problem here is most likely somewhere between the bike and AppleTV (i.e. myself): On my final interval, I backpedalled for a few seconds, and I was taken out of ERG mode. Resuming the pedalling did not seem to help, and with my HR through the roof and limited cognitive function due to limited blood flow between the ears, I fumbled around in the Companion app and by pure luck I managed to get the trainer back into ERG mode. If one is unfortunate enough to be taken out of ERG mode, how does one get back into it?
Getting back into ERG in Zwift can be tricky at first…it only happens once you get close to the prescribed wattage.
So if you are on a recovery interval of say, 130w but you are doing 180w because of your gearing, you won’t reactivate ERG
Once you get your actual wattage close to the prescribed wattage, ERG will re-engage (and you will see a message near the top of screen saying it is re-engaging)
(ask me how I know this ).
Alternatively, you can use the Companion app, as you discovered.
I thought the same. The jersey was the very last jersey, not on the top, but the very bottom. I have a couple of hundred and it took a bit to figure out where it was.
this is probably what was happening. I opened TR on my phone doing the initial setup and it probably stayed connected. Thanks, ill give it a try again tonight!
Hi,
Just doing my first Zwift/TR session, having used both independently of one another for a fair while on and off.
About 15 minutes before the end of an hour workout, my HR strap disconnected and then Zwift crashed… I logged back on and was asked if I’d like to resume, I said ‘Yes’… But it restarted the whole workout!
Assuming this is a Zwift issue, but something to be aware of!
Wow good to know.
Are there people paying TWO subscriptions and why?
What would be the advantages of having Zwift if I already have TR ?
Thanks!
- Yes. Distraction, motivation and more options is the TL;DR.
- Zwift can be a good entertainment even when it’s passive with TR as the controlling app. I’ve done this since starting Z 10 years ago. Despite randomly roaming the world, I use the other riders as “rabbits” to chase during intervals and as motivation. I prefer this vs random videos whether they be cycling POV or other options, at least for the harder stuff.
- Outside of paired use, I like Z for use with group rides and stuff like Gran Fondos as a change of pace vs pure “workouts”. I also used to race at times as alternates to hard workouts and know that plenty of people do similarly.
Zwift on it’s own is not great for training as it lacks any real depth. So TR is a clear choice that works well there. But TR intentionally lacks any “entertainment” and leaves that to the user. Some are fine with nothing, music, other videos and such but plenty like a blend.
Agree with all this.
I do think the cost concerns are a bit overblown. A lot of the discussions I see are framed with the assumption that we pay for both annually, like in @gpl ‘s (excellent as always) video.
I pay for TR annually as it informs all my training programming all year, and I do a lot of riding and training outside. I pay for 3 or 4 months of Zwift in the crummy months to stay entertained. So ~$290 vs ~$400 a year. This Zwift integration is just another option to complete my TR workouts.
I never see the price of a head unit discussed when talking about TR’s ability to push workouts to a head unit.
Did my first workout this morning was seemless.
I did note that the figures for power targets in the Zwift companion app were not the same as the actual workout. The ones on the laptop were.
Also I looked in the garage for the TR kit and was unable to locate. Is there a trick or does it just pop up in there?
