Did it get worst? Been awhile but seem to remember that TP workout were at the top of the list. Never used their built-in plans but heard that was a mess. It was nice while it lasted when one could edit the config to rearrange the workout listing/folders.
Honestly, I donât know how the rules differ when one of the companies is privately held. I have only been involved (very peripherally) when both companies were public, or in a late pre-IPO stage.
It makes sense that they wouldnât apply (at least not the SEC regs) if neither company were public. I mistakenly thought that Zwift had already gone public. If they havenât begun their IPO process yet, the legal issues I had in mind might not apply at all. However, even if that is the case, Iâd bet dollars to donuts that there are some heavy-duty NDAs in place if any talks occurred. Any way you slice it, if thereâs anything to the rumors, Nate probably canât talk about it no matter how much he or we want him to.
Yup, itâs posted several times above since it was released yesterday, and it what kicked this simmering post into a full boil right afterwards
But it works perfectly for handling tri plans and all other exertions. When I go hiking AT automatically changes around my workout. Wait, this doesnât happen?
At least use a new news source of the same info:
True, but neither company is publicly traded.
I love the commitment.
I know.
Until we know more we just speculate. Its frustrating for sure. For all of us.
This is a very poor assumption. If TR replaces the workout planning and saved results from zwift then zwift can have TR stay as a completely seperate entity and just provide an API to hook into the zwift UI. There isnât much overlap

You would still have to navigate their awful UI just to find the workout you want to do for the day.
The way Zwift works with TrainingPeaks workouts is that it automatically pulls in todayâs scheduled workout from your TP calendar to a dedicated folder in the workout selection screen, you select it from the TP folder and youâre off and running. Any manipulation you want to do with the calendar or workout (e.g. Selection and scheduling a workout, Moving an existing workout to a different day, editing it etc) is done in TrainingPeaks. The rest of integrating TR and Zwift might be hard but just getting scheduled workouts into Zwift is a well tread path which I assume that would be super easy and quick to duplicate what they already do with TrainingPeaks with the TR calendar once a license agreement is in place.
I could see a world where you have Zwift Premier (powered by Trainer Road)
In return dollars earned and TR could have access to the Zwift data set (helping AT train ML better)
TR remains as is but can use the dollars to continue expanding (slowly)
Free passes were pulled as it was losing them money (so I heard), so sounds like they need some $ (more).
We are all different in how we use it. I like to see if anyone is working out so TR and Zwift rides are all I see. Not many ride outside at -15celsius as it was today.

If its $40 or $50 per month combined would you keep it in the summer or drop to just TR to use outside workouts
$40 or $50 a month? Ha! No chance for me. Iâll find something else. TR is currently $20 a month unless you pay yearly. Zwift is $15 a month. I would just jump to xert or something. Iâd definitely prefer TR stay standalone so I can always jump to zwift alternatives if I choose.
Maybe a TR/Zwift bundled subscription will become mandatory. Theyâll charge $30 per month and say with a straight face that itâs better for the consumer since itâs more options for a cheaper price.

Not based their current record but we only have one example. We are all speculating and havenât even taken in consideration of what their VCs would dictate (or their individual track records as well as who leading the charge). What you offer can be one of many operating model (and possible without a merger). We all come in with our own biases and all are more than possible given the information at hand.
I work at a place that was bought out about a year ago by a much larger company (call them Big Company). The smaller company had a great product (call them Small Company), but the interesting part of the acquisition was that within like six months people from Small Company ended up in some critical leadership positions (COO, CPO) at Big Company.
Turns out Big Company grew too fast and had absolutely no idea what they were doing, and ended up handing over some of the reins to the people who ran Small Company. Iâm kinda hoping thatâs what happens with TR and Zwift, especially since the leadership at Zwift doesnât seem to have much idea where theyâre going, or particularly care.

That is not always an accident. Sometimes companies are specifically buying people not products when the make acquisitions.

I wouldnât doubt it. My concern is Zwift acquiring TR and then doing very little to build and improve on the TR features and plans and letting it slowly rot away
Yeah, that was my thinking. TR leadership seems super smart and on the ball, so if they (Zwift) were to buy out TR and put them in as a new product team, it could be a huge benefit to both companies.
