Zwift changes coming late 2022 & 2023

Thanks for the BD wish!

There are some interesting parts to this announcement. I don’t tend to do those team and geoup rides, but a closer connection to Discord sure makes sense and may be an answer to Wahoo’s radio feature.

New roads are always worth a quick hit, but remains to be seen if this one has any staying power.

The For You feature sounds most interesting to me and i can see it working well for people like my wife, that just ride for fun & fitness, picking what to do mostly on the fly.

Happy birthday @mcneese.chad !

Thanks! :+1:

My guess is that, even if TR wanted to do a jersey, Zwift would not do it. Why would Zwift provide a platform to advertise for their competition?

That could be it.
I see Wahoo and Kurt Kinetic have a jersey unlock… Maybe they have some affiliation arrangement with Zwift🤷🏼‍♂️

Wahoo and Kurt Kinetic’s affiliation or arrangement is that they are open for use in Zwift. TR has chosen to not be open to Zwift at all. Why should Zwift be chummy with a platform that puts up such a wall? I wish TR would “play” with Zwift and TrainingPeaks.

The Wahoo and KK kits (as well as Saris, Elite, et al) all long pre-date Zwift entry into trainers.

There may come a day when Zwift decides to eliminate those jerseys, but we aren’t close to it yet, IMO.

I’ve had this issue happen as well, not only between ZC and Zwift running on ATV, but also when running with ZC and Zwift running on my MacBook Pro. While other posters have mentioned being on the same WiFi network, I would further that by saying to check the band each of the apps are running on. Perhaps it just coincidental, but I typically only see the drop of ZC app when I run both my Zwift session and the ZC app on my phone via my 5G WiFi signal. If I switch my phone (which is running the ZC app) to use my routers 2G WiFi signal, i’ve yet to receive a dropout.

This may or may not be related to the location of my router, which is quite far from my pain cave and on a different level of my house, but I speculate that the shorter broadcast range of the 5G signal may not be strong enough to keep both apps in sync.

A few (not many) more details about the new Scotland map….

I really like the Richmond and Yorkshire UCI courses for Zwift for racing events. I like the Innsbruck loop as well other than the climb as it makes the course basically one big hill climb. I think Zwift has done a good job mixing up courses that are mainly used for races with the larger worlds. I would break it down as follows:

A. Cornerstone Worlds - Watopia and Makuri Islands
B. Medium Size Worlds - France, New York, London
C. UCI Worlds Based Courses - Richmond, Yorkshire, Innsbruck
D. Smaller/Event Only Courses - Crit City, Paris

Will Scotland fall into B or C group?

I’m guessing more likely C…

Yep, I would guess C as well. It’s really odd to me that they put so much emphasis on creating these little worlds somewhat specifically designed for racing. I recall reading a while ago that less than 25% of the user base actually participate in races.

Maybe it’s increased since I read that, but still seems like the vast majority of folks don’t race and I would assume would prefer if they grew the A and B type worlds.

Doesn’t really matter to me as 90% of the time I’m just cranking out my TR workout with Z running the background. Although I do like the occasional large group ride on Zwift if I’m not able to get outside for an endurance ride.

@mcneese.chad

I accidentally stumbled across a way to do this after all this time lol. I built some sweet spot workouts and instead of using Z1 or Z2 for the recoveries I used free ride. Was on a hilly course today when a recovery popped up and noticed quickly that free ride = “terrain mode”!!

So Thursdays workout is gonna be hill repeat time like I always wanted :grinning:

That is brilliant.
God knows how long i’ve been trying to workout on zwift using the terrain and having a lap function.
By using the method you’ve described it is now possible!!!
Thx mate!

I’m glad someone else is interested in this!

I haven’t given it a full try yet but plan to tomorrow. I didn’t mention but I’m trying to use the text prompts to tell me target wattage at the start of each interval since there won’t really be any difference between work and rest other than the duration. The Zwift text prompt thing is tricky on my iPad though.

Interesting result / hack there

Another free (I do love the word free) way to do this is to use Jepster (on Android, not sure about iPhone) as a bike computer emulator.

I create a workout in intervals.icu on my phone, download it, upload it into Jepster and off I go. Just fire up a route on Zwift as a free ride, get rolling and start the workout on Jepster.

I’m sure you can use it to do all sorts of clever stuff, but all I want is something to beep and show me a wattage target and duration. For that, it’s great.

Another free & easy way is to run the workout on your bike computer, and free ride Zwift in sim mode.

Only free if you own a bike computer

LOL, yes, and Zwift isn’t free except once a month, trainer isn’t free, bike isn’t free, …
