Other than official support for Zwift hardware in Rouvy, nothing much seems to be changing in the near term, but I wonder if TR’s existing relationship with Zwift will make a TR integration with Rouvy more likely.
This was out of nowhere!
So who is left from the major players? Mywhoosh as an independent?
“Independent”
I wouldn’t call a platform funded by a state government “independent”
Speaking more in terms of its M&A with regards to other like software. Their ownership and funding is a different story lol. Good call though
TrainingPeaks Virtual. Then a smattering of small outfits like BikeTerra
That would be a nice result.
I just watched Ray’s video, I can’t say I agree with his take there. It seems a bit optimistic to think Rouvy will continue as it is and this could be a good thing for users. In my mind the fact that they are keeping everything the same and not integrating anything makes it easier for Zwift to discontinue the Rouvy product and eliminate competition in the market. It just doesn’t make much sense to not seek to leverage the combined company to better at least one of the platforms.
Always been curious about GT Bike V. I wonder if it’s immersive enough for JRA without extra media/scrolling/etc.
It’s certain, Zwift didn’t purchase Rouvy to NOT make more money. I think people are right to be skeptical as it seems pretty rare that a merger ends up primarily benefiting the customer.
Repeating “nothing is changing”, while technically correct today ,we ALL know there will be changes and often that is higher prices or just discarding the platform you just bought.
It’s not hard to imagine 2 years from now Zwift needing to cut costs to appease investors and BAM!! Rouvy is gone or just pushed to the side with little support or improvements.
Garmin still operates the Tacx Training App. I’m still surprised that they have not discontinued it so far. It does not seem popular and Garmin does not seem to invest much development resources in it.
That still surprises me along with elite still offering their e-training app
They discontinued it partially: previously there were some training plans, but now only virtual routes with video. I think they dropped the plans
Zwift didn’t want to get Blockbuster’d. ![]()
Has Zwift actually turned a profit yet?
I thought I recall reading at some point in the past couple of years that they had yet to do so but where getting so much venture capital which allowed them to continue to grow
Maybe they wanted to push people into their Garmin Coaching plans
So… now they should continue and buy TrainerRoad? 1 subscription!! ![]()
I love the TR/Zwift combo but paying 2 subscriptions for using Zwift just sparingly to do some TR workouts is a bit expensive. And if you start using Zwift for racing, socializing, and amusementt, which is the main value of Zwift IMO. you end up abandoning any TR structured plan. I wish TR and Zwift would come to an agreement for a unique subscription to both with a reduced price.
Another possibility that l would like is that for a subscription bonus TR users would be allowed for a limited use of Zwift like two sessions a week for example. Fully enjoying the Zwift play and following the TR structure at the same time is almost impossible specially for masters athletes
Following.. I am wondering whether trainerroad will be integrated into Rouvy as well, since they’re now a part of Zwift? Are there any plans for that?
