Zwift 2024 Updates….post ‘em here!

Will be interesting to see who the 3 initial launch partners are. Assuming Training Peaks isn’t being counted as they already have it.

Wahoo Systm must be a dead cert. Probably at least one of Xert/JOIN.

I’m leaning towards TR not being there at launch. It would be big culture shift to have their “IP” outside of their own app. Not sure if they will go for it at roll out, and just play wait and see on how things go after a few months. Can claim it was outside their road-map etc. I think it’d be a big misstep to give their smaller competitors a first mover advantage. Especially when there is huge demand from their user base for this feature. Having TR integrate with Zwift coupled with the My List companion app feature, would make getting onto the bike a working out just that little bit easier and faster

The API integration looks very promising, will save me a headache getting a workout to Zwift… But how long did it take for TR to get workouts to Hammerhead devices?

Hopefully I’m wrong though and we see this API implemented soon in TR!

Not gonna lie, I’d much rather TR spend more of its resources on WLV2 than integration with Zwift

Maybe this is what those meetings were about ages ago when the merger talk was on?

I’d be surprised at Xert. One of their USP is SMART workouts which I don’t think would work with Zwift. Be very cool if they did.

Xert now has direct integration with Garmin for pushing workouts to Connect, which doesn’t support SMART, so I wouldn’t rule it out.

Wow. Some great improvements (at least for my use case). You have to wonder with Ray specifically posting a pic and discussing TR…

It would be interesting to find out that Zwift was the one who killed the previous integration talks, although I assume we’ll never know.

For me, I’m really not sure if it’s enough for me to go back to zwift. Part of me dropping it was the faff of two devices - 1 for TR and 1 for zwift and making sure all paired in the correct order, which would presumably be gone. But is avatar moving wallpaper enough to replace the moving wallpaper of races? Not sure, but then the pain cave would be able to use AppleTV for TrainerRoad so remove the (older) mobile phone. And then I’d have the zwift sub for winter races/ events.

tl:dr I’m not sure TR integration is enough to make me rejoin Zwift, but it’s raised the prospect of it more than anything else since I ditched it!

Anyone remember win the Zwift CEO was in Reno and there was a bunch of speculation regarding Zwift/TrainerRoad integration? I wonder if this has finally come to fruition. I do most of my workouts from TR on Zwift, so this would allow me to not have to set the TR workout as an Outdoor workout. I think this looks promising and I’d surprised if TR isn’t included at launch.

For me Training Peaks shouldn’t count… their “average power” method always adds 10-15 watts average to workouts from other apps. Join is good example where 165-174 would be 165 on Join’s wokrout player, it’d show up as 180 in Zwift after filtering from Join through TP and into the workout folder.

? This winter I went thru a group base training (400+ people I think), and most were using Zwift to do indoor workouts. Workouts were prescribed in TrainingPeaks, using power ranges, and was told in ~4 workout analysis videos a week that Zwift would default to the middle of the range. Some of the workouts had really narrow targets and watching the coaches analyze the workout it was easy to see it worked that way. I only used Zwift a couple of times, and not in workout mode.

In your example a Join workout of 165-174W, exported to TrainingPeaks, should show up in Zwift as a target of 169W.

Any workout with a power range (versus a single power target) should work that way, including Join. I’ve been playing around with Join again and those workouts have both power ranges and cadence ranges, both of which faithfully show up on my Garmin 840 computer. No “average power” because the workouts were defined with ranges and not a single power number.

Yeah, as WindWarrior said, something is wrong there. This isn’t how TP integration works.

Correct, this is how the TP to Zwift ones work. My wife does a ton of these (including just a few mins ago), and it’s always to the mid-point of the power range. The range is sent as a finite value (e.g. 305w to 315w), so it’s actually not dependent on having your TP & Zwift FTP values be the same.

It almost sounds like above that some sort of other target was sent.

right, for example when TrainingPeaks has a single power target, say 180W, then it will send a range. All of my workouts use ranges, and I forgot if TP sends +/- 10% or something like that (180 > 162-198W).

I don’t think that’s right. It works off a percentage of FTP (in the middle of the range). I just tested it by opening today’s TP workout in Zwift and then editing my FTP in Zwift and reopening - the targets change. Setting your FTP identically in TP and Zwift is therefore likely to fix any issues.

The FastCat crew hinted to this integration on a podcast a month or so ago so I think they will be one of the 3

Interesting, I’ll check again. But my wife isn’t always great about updating her FTP in all the places (Zwift, TP, Garmin, ensuring it syncs down to correct Garmin devices, etc…). For that matter, neither am I.

Hm would be great if intervals.icu could push directly to Zwift would make my workflow way easier.

It may be appropriate to have a separate thread on this, but some big news I just got via email… Zwift increases prices.

OT but in searching for other news links, the first G result is from the evil site about 9 hours ago that is a dead link. Looks like they jump ahead of the embargo and had to pull it for a bit :stuck_out_tongue:

@mcneese.chad How dare you bring such bad news into this Tuesday. :stuck_out_tongue: Yeesh, that’s an increase. (Previously $189.99+tax for Canada)
