Your best bib short recommendations - 2018-2022ish

I’d rather look at their waist and hip measurements. I also hesitated and finally bought their M based on those. For comparison, I’m 186cm and 72kg. It fits me perfectly.
From my research, assos has 3 main models (mille, equipe rs, and cento). The rest is either season dependant, or older models S7. I went for their new mid range (equipe rs S9) and find it really comfortable.

Recently tried “the best bibs in the world” from eroe.cc - and I have to admit that name justifies the bibs  They fit perfectly and endurance, thick chamois fits me very well (for both saddle regions, especially my front is a lot happier now). They are almost seamless so nothing irritates.

You can choose longer or shorter version (I advise the longer +4). And maybe it will be important to someone - they are brandless. And yes - they are available only in black.

Le Col. Quite expensive but they have frequent sales if you sign up for emails and of course they have the Strava challenges which get you £50 off. I have two pairs of shorts and a pair of tights. Really well made and really comfortable for long rides (club rides usually 4-5 hours).

In no particular order…
DeSoto 400 Mile Bibs
Pearl Izumi PRO
Pactimo 12 Hour Bibs

My favourite clothing brand is Cafe du Cycliste. Having tried them to not wear all Rapha i was super impressed. They are also a bit different and some interesting colours
I would say the marinette ones i have are closer to Rapha pro with a slightly less compressed feel but silkier and smoother material.

The tops are the best i’ve got no question. Recommend trying on though got small tops and medium shorts

After reading through this thread and all the recommendations, I pulled the trigger on two new bibs, one from Rapha and the other, Le Col. Between sales and Strava coupons the prices weren’t too bad and I wanted to try a couple of different brands. Given the current situation, I’m spending more and more time on the trainer and my current crop of Louis Garneau’s just ain’t doing it. Some soreness I can handle, but the chafing is really getting annoying.

Le col are the best I have used

Recenty purchased a set of SolarPro bibs from Jakroo and have been very happy with them.

Yep, the range looks a bit confusing but simplified; The “S” number refers to the pad type 9 is the lastest and the naming converntion refers to the cut.
Mille - Standard cut
Equipe - racing snake cut
Cento - Larger cut and thicker chamois

Agree with clementV the rs9’s are lovely. Mille are good for day to day wear though.

Mostly all Rapha for me except a Voler short sleeve and long sleeve jersey.

Bought more Rapha stuff with the 25% off. Love the core bibs and also the pro training line jerseys

I got some verge shorts on a great club deal (generic branding not club custom) and they’ve been fantastic on the trainer. They have thicker padding but don’t feel so thick that they’re awkward to walk around in like some I’ve tried in the past. Will have to get myself some more

Rapha Core bib just arrived. I’ll give it a long trial run this weekend between some time with TR and Zwift.

No word yet on when my Le Col order will ship.

Nice. You will like it I think. I could buy more expensive Rapha ones but for me the core ones have already worked great.

Are the Rapha Core bibs actually good? Do they last a long time? I ride Velocio Signature bibs which I love, I have 2 pairs but they are expensive.

Had my original core bibs for over 2 years now and still like new. I purchased 2 more in the 25% off sale (they hardly ever discount that line) and now have 5 in my rotation.

All of the recommendations on this thread plus the 25% off sealed the deal for me to give the Rapha’s a try. If they work out for me and the sale is still going, I may pull the trigger on a couple more.

The pro training jersey is also a good pick at $115-25%. Not crazy tight but not baggy. Core jerseys are baggier and not as long. I don’t work or affiliation with them but just love there stuff.

I’ve been looking at the jersey too. How are the sleeves? Long? I like my sleeves long.

Almost to the elbow. I am 6’ and 173 and have a large.

Any women out there have recommendations?

I have some well worn LG Mondo bibs that are my favorite as far as chamois comfort, but I wouldn’t mind a more technical leg fabric as well as thinner bib straps. I’ve tried some Cuore bibs that are oddly sized (I can stretch the bib straps up over my head) and Castelli Premio bibs where chamois basically doesn’t cover my sit bones when I lean into an aero position. I also prefer bibs to be closer to knee length, otherwise they just ride up and the seam ends up rubbing the nose of my saddle.

Obviously dropping $150-$200 on an experiment is rough, so I’d like to get recommendations if possible.
