Got em both brand spanking new at home… Would set me back about 70 usd to get maching one ![]()
Nope… my training wheels have a 2.25 Ray on front and a 2.4 Rick in the rear. Can’t tell a difference between the race wheels with a 2.35 Ray and same Rick in the back.

Is there anyone who already had experience with both the Schwalbe Rick and the Continental Dubnital (or the Trinotal) on the front wheel? If so, which one has better cornering grip?
See my input above… These are the two most recent tires I’ve ran. Dubnital offers way more grip, but feels very similar in all other regards(speed, size).
Upcountry: “Speed wise, obviously so many variables, but it doesn’t feel quite as fast as the Rick”. Do you reckon that the Dubnital is faster than the Rick overall? In other words, does the better grip in corners make up for the difference in rolling resistance? Which of the two do you prefer?
They’re really similar “feeling” in terms of rolling resistance… You’re never going to notice even a 3 or 4 watt difference. I’d expect the Dubnital to be faster on anything more technical than a dirt/gravel road due to the increased grip, its noticeable even in the dry conditions I’m riding, but I’d expect even more so with wet surfaces. The Rick’s are now on my Drop Bar World Cup, which is my “gravel bike”, and the Dubnitals on the Epic Evo. Gut instinct is that I “trust” Continental more for durability and puncture resistance, but thats unfounded.
Running Race Kings 2.2 now. I picked up a set of both 2.2 and 2.4’s Dubnitals Rapid Race but have not set them up yet. I am thinking of running the 2.4 on the front and 2.2 rear. Just curious if anyone else is doing the same.
Side note, if anyone is curious my 2.4’s weigh about 647g and 2.2’s 612g
I can’t see a reason to run a 2.2 on a mtb unless it wont fit.
Muddy races like Lutsen
Non-technical races like Leadville
Even for less technical races, I don’t see any net benefit of running 2.2s
got two Trinotal Race - Grip 2.4 : 724 and 731gr… well-well they are on the heavy side for sure, as at least according to R2-Bike, should be 660gr (Continental official site still does not list any Trinotal race casing, just the trail)
maybe i got trail casing with wrong stickers on it…
Primary race goal is LT100. Weight and Rolling resistance are really important for LT100 and it is a low technical course. If the 2.2 rolls better than the 2.4 I would consider running it on the back. Having a 2.4 on the front would be nice for a couple of the sections to have more control.
Also, last year I ran 2.2 Race Kings which I think was the best tire for LT100. I also ride the 2.2 RK’s daily in Denver/Boulder area so I am used to 2.2’s.
What tyre pressure have people tried with the Dubnitals? Im 85kg so just looking for a rough benchmark.
Wolf Tooth Bike Tire Pressure Calculator spot on for me, as i’m 65kg my setup would means 0 for you. But it worth a try, it even has temperature compensation , riding conditions etc etc. Usually it gives me a little bit higher pressures than Silca, and it felt better
Second this. Last time I did lt100, I ran 2.35 Ralph and 2.1 Burt. The smaller tires roll faster on the paved sections, and there are a lot of them. There are only a few sections where you can lose the rear if you aren’t careful.
For me Dynaplugs are easiest to execute but the original Stan’s Dart plug was the most reliable after it is was in the tire (that was if you could get it in without breaking the top off or the plug separating from the tip).
I just mounted up and raced a Rick 2.25 rear and a Racing Ralph 2.25 front, the tires do not match with the Ralph having the older logos and the Rick having the new design. The tan walls are different shades. Did not know this when I ordered. The Rick in the rear blew up way bigger than the Ralph. All that being said I raced them this weekend and it might be the best combo I’ve ever raced! Fast and grippy. I do wish I went for the larger width but oh well… The OCD be damned.
Also, looks like the Dubnital 2.4 is 60 mm after being mounted for a week at ~20-25psi versus 56mm for a RaceKing 2.2 that has been mounted for almost 2 seasons. The RaceKings are on 27mm rims and the Dubnital are on 30mm.
That was the problem I had with the Stans Dart. Broke two of them trying to get the plug into the hole. I think they have replaced the plastic parts with metal now… so maybe the latest version works better.
