XC Race Tire Thread

I’ll just keep calling them Race Kings, I’m good with that

bought a set of the Dubnitals (sick name btw) in 2.4 with the rapid compound and race casing. also got them in black because black is fast according to BRR

only complaint is the really ugly poppy branding

Dubnital after 3 days mounted, @1.0 bar on 27mm rim, its 58mm at carcass
compared to Specialized Fast Trak 2.35, it has much more rounder profile, so much that after wheel change, it felt a size smaller

unlike most other designs, they keep the knobs small on the sides (and not really on the side at all, quite central still) which will give a rounder, narrower look rather than having bigger knobs sticking out the side like many. this makes me wonder how well they work on the front. looks like a great rear tire though

That happened to my rick and peyotes, ended up cancelling the preorder and I think Inordered both from bikeinn, which btw is still shipping contis to the US

Further measurement that will “disappoint” all the perfectionists…
2.4" Dubnital Grip Trail on 32mm internal hookless rims. Left at 35psi for a week(no sealant and have only dropped three psi).
2.350" / 59.7mm Wide

Not that feel in the hand is everything, but even this “not fast” combination of compound and casing just has that nice feel to it. Not the stiff and cardboard like feel that some other “trail” type tires have. I’ve got a set of the Rapid Race as well, but these will be getting the first go, and I think I’m going to enjoy them. I’ve got Rick XC 2.4" on the other wheelset, so I can get a feel for A vs B, but I imagine they will be similar, but these Conti’s look to have a ton of grip(more than the 2.2 Race King).

I’ve found better stretch with 50 psi (max psi) and left in hot/warm conditions.

Beyond it being stretched wider, is there a performance advantage for stretching it out this way? Does it become more supple, etc? Sorry, I’m new to MTBs.

They just want it wider. The current trend is wider is faster.

Has anyone in Europe received their new Conti’s yet?
I’ve ordered Dubnitals form Bikeinn, and they have still not been posted after 5 days.

Anyone else test a dubnital? I put it on the rear with rapid compound in trail casing. Surprisingly grip is insane I wasn’t braking in spots when id normally brake. This is compared to a fast trak rear. I smashed every DH segment i rode. What was a 15 minute downhill on saturday i did it in almost 13 minutes. However on the climb i was slower for the given power.

Same here.

I hit the ground 3 or 4 times on the Mezcal/Barzo combo 2 years ago especially around any amount of moisture+roots…I’ve been riding the Ray/Ralph like trail tires and have had great success up and down hill. I get antsy with wanting to try new tires but they’re so damn good I’m going to have a hard time going away from them.

These are on North NJ rocky trails.

I ordered a set and recently got updated notification that the expected ship date is 5/13. Also, they’re in a winning position on BRR for May so far, so hopefully we start to get some data and reports trickling in.

Bicycle station did a test on them for real world rolling and they did not test well in their sample size or protocol. Although, the protocol wasn’t great, they were shocked with the results.

But so far with minimal feed back from TR users and other’s online - it kinda seems to be lining up. I hope they get on BRR soon.

Those guys are not who I’m looking to for anything resembling science, nor anything other than vibes…

Just had my first ride on the Dubnital(Grip Trail 2.4"). You won’t find me claiming that anything I’m doing is science, nor testing, just vibes here too… Feel wise, a ton of grip, especially noticeable on some DG(decomposed granite) that is common in NorCal. I spent some time on the Wicked Will las year, and this really does have as much grip, and is really consistent feeling when leaning it over. Speed wise, obviously so many variables, but it doesn’t feel quite as fast as the Rick, which is sort of to be expected. Pavement speed feels good, not far off the Race King to my gut, and my usual tuck back down to the house hit 53mph, which is as fast as any of the others. Barring any crazy punctures or issues, or if I feel bold enough to swap over to the Rapid Race, these will be staying on for a rugged 360 mile race around Utah and Colorado later this month.

I just had two sets of the Dubnital 2.4 Race/Rapid ship from BTD. Arriving this week, so they’re coming off backorder.

I’m happy im not the only one noticing the insane grip these tires have.

Why are they surprised that a 2.2 Race King” is faster than a 2.4 version of almost the same tire? Or is it that the other 2.4 tires were just as fast?

I want to know the difference of the Race vs Trail casing. When is the Trail necessary compared to the Race, and which is like the old Black Chile Protection??
