As some of the others have mentioned, we’re only ever making suggestions and never forcing anything upon you, so you’re always able to decline new FTP Detections.

It’s hard to say if that’s a good idea though. FTP is something that changes from one day to another depending on fitness, freshness, and fatigue.

Additionally, what type of power meter were you using in the lab? Unless it was the exact same one that you use at home, there is likely some sort of discrepancy between the two. This is completely normal, and it’s important to remember that you’ll be training with your power meter, not the one at the lab. What matters most is a consistent reading so that your training is always consistent.

It doesn’t matter if the power meter is reading 300 watts or 350 at the end of the day – you’ll be producing however much power you’re producing. What does matter though, is that each interval that’s based on your recorded FTP is an accurate % of that FTP figure (comparing apples to apples).

Setting your FTP with one power meter, and then following a training plan with power targets based on that number with a different power meter really isn’t the best idea. Your workouts could be way too easy or way too hard if there is (and there likely is) some sort of discrepancy between the two sensors. This is why while it can be a good idea to get tested somewhere for LT1 and LT2 figures, it’s important to recalibrate with your own tools when you’re back home.

Great point re comparability, I tested on a Monark enetgometic and use a Kickr Core at home, so there’s surely a difference but I also doubt as big as the AI model suggested.

What is interesting to me is that it suggested a change of FTP despite there being an 18 month gap between my last plan and recent session, a single data point.

Great idea to pick up some real users and comment their progression and provide tips on how to break plateau. If you guys trainerroad teams could also pick up some triathlete that would be pretty usefull.

I’d love it if you analysed my training. I know I’m over doing it but can’t help myself. Even on red days I go for a walk, but history has shown me that if I don’t go for a walk the day after a big ride I’ll suffer with stiff legs all day

I’m pretty sure TR has made me a fitter cyclist. I was out with the club on Sunday for a hilly ride in to North Wales (I live in the UK), it was a 70 mile ride with 4500 feet of climbing, but when I left the guys towards the end of the ride, I got a PR on home stretch segment. One of the guys messaged me and said “you took off like a bat out of hell when you left us, did you need to get home for a pee or something :wink:”. I felt strong on Sunday, hopefully it wasn’t a one off
