Why interval based endurance workouts?

Yep. For me, it breaks it up into smaller pieces that I work through one by one rather than think about it as one long consistent effort. It’s entirely psychological, kinda like riding power pole to power pole up a long climb.

These ones don’t do much to break up the monotony for me, I prefer ones like Garin and Colosseum where it really does feel like you’re getting some frequent changes even though they’re subtle. These big chunky ones for Z2 are my least favorite and I usually go into the workout and select an alternate, something like Saddle Back instead of Harrah would be your preference probably while I would switch Harrah to Cabell or Garin. For 60 min look at something like Muir maybe.
