This morning I traversed the mixed use paths along part of Kedron Brook (upstream) & Enoggera Creek (downstream), which I’d been saving up for a recovery week because they meander so much, some corners are sharp, blind, littered with leaves/twigs/seedpods/blossoms, there are a lot of road crossings, intersections with other paths, & locals out for a wander with a dog or three. Not the sort of place you want try to hold a power target. But a very nice place for a leisurely [st]roll. Like today.
Had some main road to reach the chosen entry point for the first path.
Kedron Brook’s path for the most part is pretty well manicured.
Reached the end of the outbound route, cut over a ridge (more main & suburban roads) to find the inbound route. Found it & immediately went off-route to have a look at the dam.
Contemplated circumnavigating the dam but then changed my mind when I again saw the size of it on a tourist sign/map. Headed back in on my route. Was distracted by some pedestrians on the path & missed a turn. To get back on route without popping a 180° turn I had to duck down this much older path with a cute bridge. And yes, steps on the other side.
Passed by a pump track so decided to be a kid & play on it for a couple of laps
More pathway through bushes between houses & the creek
Short detour to check out some friends’ old digs. It’s about a quarter century since they lived there, & the property is looking more polished &
non-descript.
At one point the breadcrumb trail seemed to veer off into nowhere. I caught up with the would-be path further around & this is what Gmaps’ cycling directions were trying to guide me down:
Okay yeah, doable, but it would be cool if their cycling directions came with a slider to choose what type of bike you’re on &/or how rough you want the paths to be.
Made a stop close to home to fuel my recovery wiiiiitthhhh…
