On a work trip, then continuing on to vacation so I brought my gravel bike. Not the smoothest of intervals - 2 teeth jumps between most gears made it a little difficult to find the right cadence but I got through.
Did the 15-minutes of endurance at the end at Bluff Point on the gravel trail. Only down side is I rode through some dog . Took about 30 seconds to figure out why my hotel room stank when I got back. Got that cleaned up ASAP!
This one was a bit rough … needed to break the last set of intervals up. Did a few more 1-minute efforts to get the same time in zone but not quite the same as the longer 3.5 and 2.5 minute intervals.
No pics as I was on a tight timeline to get to an early morning meeting, but the sunrise was beautiful over the reservoir.
I usually loop round by Conington for my active recovery ride and stay in the flatlands where its easier to keep power down but 3way temporary traffic lights in Yaxley which took ages to change convinced me to loop west into the slightly undulating East Northamptonshire instead.
A bar 2 minutes away from me does a Thursday group ride, it’s only 20km so thought I’d join cos it was sunny and more fun that z2 (with an ever dropping ftp) inside.
What I didn’t realise was, it is a complete and utter head kicking in session! Over the the 35mins lap time with 4 other riders I:
avg 32kph
214NP
10.99w/kg max
set a bunch of strave segment PRs
plenty of best powers for 2026 (but the TR analysis page only shows the graph not intervals but 63 aint bad!)
Forgot to post my session yesterday an active recovery session and a bike test. The results of the test is that Ive decided to go with 650ml bottles, so I might have a chance of a drink on the move. I could only get to the 750ml bottles when stopped and that was only once in 30miles.
