We did for 20 years. Moved north and west by just a wee bit about a year ago.
We’ve been fortunate to live in a bunch of different locations across the country. Liked all of them too so that’s a bonus.
Mountain biking and skiing was best in Utah. Road racing and riding was pretty good around here and we have some trails too. The pictures upthread are from our back deck so its a nice view.
That’s awesome!! I have about a 20-minute pedal to cross over a parkway (heading west) to get to farmland - nice open roads that are relatively well maintained with little traffic. Many loops of varying distances, then 20-minute cool down to get back home. I can drive (or bike if I really wanted to) 30-40 miles north to get to some climbing.
We’re about 2 weeks later this year due to the relatively wet spring/summer we’ve had vs last year. Had this been last year, you would have been in the peak color season.
Thanks Darth - but don’t close the thread!! I love seeing the rides you guys post. Keeps me inspired and want to ride more places.
For a change of scenery, I’m in the desert this evening. Some great “flow” riding here. Heading for the rocks tomorrow - which I prefer - is that bad??
I have a new toy for camping - a Starlink dish. I know, I may be contributing to space clutter and junk. But it’s nice to be able to get to the boonies on Friday, and still close out stuff from work before the weekend.
It’s a full moon here. This is a pic I took with my iPhone (about 3 second exposure) at 11pm. It’s eye-opening how bright a full moon can be away from city light pollution. Looks like a scene from Hogans Heros .
Could wear my heart rate monitor because the strap hurt my ribs. Also, had to keep my hands light on the bars on climbs because of continuing pain involving top of my upper arm bone (humerus) and my tricep, I think. Starting to think I should visit the doc.
Do you know the cause? My wife had a nagging injury that slowly kept getting worse. Turned out to be a bone spur that was slowly growing and tearing into her bicep.
Yes, I had an embarrassing crash on the bike wherein I tried to break (again) my ribs and, this time, hurt my arm (probably because I haven’t been swimming like I was before my 2018 crash, and thus, my upper body is far weaker and dainty, with less fat insulation at my shoulders than lower down. It kind of feels like a ligament attachment is loose (or strained or something) and doesn’t like being made to work. It’s better than it was (the accident was last week Tuesday, about 11 days ago). I have pondered if I chipped the bone or something like that as it doesn’t really feel like a tendon per se.
