Where did you ride OUTSIDE today (2022)

Thank you @Aeroiseverything and its time I follow you too! Because I’m hoping your Strava has more cowbell than your Twitter LOL.

more PRs on the way!

Have you actually Followed me on Twitter? I have used it for like 1 months when I was 18 :joy:. Probably still cringeworthy!!

@mountainrunner sent me a Twitter link with more cowbell, so I followed him. Now following both of you on Strava! How do you like the Kickr Bike?

@Mccarthyryd , yep, “Gucci,” not whatever word I used. I’m definitely NOT an English major!

I only have one ride on the Hunt wheels so far but they seem fine. For me they were the right balance of performance, depth (35 mm), width (31 mm external, 25 mm internal), and weight (1465 g). I was also limited by my road bike frame max tire width of 32 mm. I wanted a set of wheels that I was ok taking off-road, shallower than the Zipp 303S that came with the bike, and had a wider inner rim width.

I opted for the hookless but they also make a hooked version. I was able to get some Vittoria Torreno Dry tires to mount even though they aren’t on Hunt’s supported list. I did have to take them for a ride before they really set, though. Again, I’m limited by my frame width, otherwise I would have gone for wider tires - 40+ mm.

Overall, if you can afford them (and don’t forget rotors, tires, and cassette) then I think they’re a great value. You can definitely find less expensive wheels but I think you’ll trade aluminum for carbon, depth, and/or width.

I know @gpl has run Hunts in the past, although I haven’t seen any recent videos with them - maybe he can add his experiences.

@gpl thanks for the insights. My Hunts came with four spokes, taped, and valves. I had to redo the tape on the rear wheel, though, but they offered to cover the cost of the tape and if I needed to take it to an LBS. they acknowledged this was a recent issue they were working on.

My garmin edge 530 is having a hard time in the heat i guess. Look at the vertical gain correction.

Yeah the warranty thing gets me. I like the hunt price point, then see the bontrager lifetime warranty for a few hundred dollars… It’s tough being a consumer these days.

OMG @mountainrunner ! Riding up Haleakala and testifying before congress! On the same vacation, no less? EIther one of those alone would be like a lifetime achievement for me. Wowsers!!!

Call Garmin and tell them about it! I’ve got a riding buddy that has the worst elevation on his Wahoo Bolt but he won’t call and get it replaced. Life is too short for that type of aggravation!

Its usually the rain that done weird things to my first few edges. Another one that would cause a problem was a cafe stop, for instance on restart it decided you climbed an extra 100ft in 0miles :joy:

In Hawaiian shorts no less!

Lol! Yup! Just a regular Thursday. Wow!

@pbase, the shorts were a deliberate choice, to be sure. If the hearing had been held at or after dawn my time, I would have considered having an alternative background than the intentionally non-descript wall of the meeting room. And, I did send the pic to the subcommittee chairman’s staffer

This was my third time testifying, but the first before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The other two times were before the House Armed Services Committee. For the first appearance, the Chair of the (whole) House Foreign Affairs Committee tried to prevent my appearance but my relationship with the Chair of the (whole) House Armed Services Committee meant the objection was ignored and I still appeared, but that’s for a different forum. But if you do appear, @jmt, I would be happy to give you tips from my experiences. :+1:

My experience is the weather can play a factor in the elevation. Also, my experience with Garmin support has been good, so I concur with @windwarrior’s advice: reach out to Garmin.

Ive a TT tomorrow so I thought I’d take it easy on the group ride. The fastest bloke was away so it worked and I managed to keep the IF down to 0.51. Then as often happens we ended up in a pub but knowing I had a race tomorrow I stayed on Shandy and when one mate who we met there said he was staying for pizza I joined him. The 7miles home assisted by a strong tail wind was uneventful until I got a 1/4 of a mile from home.

The last bit takes a mile through a park on a cycle path which saves about 4miles on busy roads. Thank goodness I only freewheel/ trackstand around the park. I came up behind a family of 5 or 6. They all acknowledged me and politely stepped aside early. Being at the side was too much for their youngest, circa 8 years, and he decided to dash out infront of me. Rather than mow him down I slammed on the front brake, did an endo and stacked it. My seat post twisted circa 40deg, my left shifter has some unoticable sratches as do my forks but apart from that the bike seems ok. My jersey shoulder has some bobbling and the pockets have some tiny holes ( but as of now un noticeable, washing might open them up). Ive no bruising but the shoulder and knee certainly feels it and somehow despite the bibshorts being perfect I have a graze/cut on my side towards the back. With the strong wind and everyone acknowledging me and stepping so far to the side I probably relaxed too much and my usual trackstand was replaced by a sub 14mph freewheel; I am glad it wasn’t any more :face_with_head_bandage:

Ouch! Glad it was not worse and I hope it doesn’t impact your race!

:scream: Over half my rides end on the trail near the house and for this reason I try and come to almost a standstill when passing kids this age!

Yip I normally do too, literally come to a track stand. I made a mistake today though, the two meter gap wasn’t enough to freewheel through and there was a kid at the very front of the adults that I didn’t see until he dashed out.

I’ve had that computer for over 2 year o not sure what they can offer??

don’t ask, don’t get.

That is super nice of you @mountainrunner but I am pretty sure Congress is never going to be interested in anything I would have to say! LOL. But if I am ever subpoenaed, I will take you up on that! I did take a look at the link and was very impressed with your expertise!
