What's my Offset?

I thought I had read that SRM isn’t the standard like it used to be. I maybe have misread or misheard and cant find where I saw it but I thought they had issues with accuracy with temperature compensation?

Again I could be way off but I am sure one of the power meter gurus will chime in on this (please)!

SRM has never had active temperature compensation. It does auto-zero.

It is not perfect, but from my own use, and in the power files of riders I’ve advised over the years, I’ve seen fewer issues with SRM and Powertap than with other products. Quarq is a close third.

Agreed on the PowerTap front. I had a wheelset with a PowerTap hub for a few years and it was rock solid.

I have one that is finicky with humidity and calibration – it can initially offset anywhere from -5 or so to +15, if the outside humidity is higher than the garage (I’ll let the door up for 15-20 min before I calibrate). If the offset is below about +5, I know my data will be pretty garbagy (like a 370w threshold – not!). It can take a few seconds/minutes of pedal strokes, but then a stop and reset the calibration brings it into the +5 to +10 range where it normally calibrates, and the data is consistent with my other wheelsets (race set, and the set on my other bike).
