I’m gunning for Mohican 100k and if I’m in good enough shape the
Transylvania Mountain Bike Epic. plus local xc races.
- Marathon Nationals at Palo Duro Canyon, Texas
- Local 6 hour marathon series (starts in one week
)
- Probably some of the TMBRA cross country races close to home (Waco, Dinosaur Valley)
Yes, but it’s been at least 4 years. I’ve done PMBAR multiple times, and I tried the Pisgah 111k (original full distance course) and that was the only race I’ve not finished. I’ll go into the 55 with a ton of respect for it, it’s a race where you’re really just racing the course and riding (and hiking) steady is the best plan. I’d describe Jerdon as a back country XC race, while the 55 is a more true endurance game. It’s the hike-a bike, not the descents that concern me. I’m thinking about going up Laurel Mountain after you’re 1/2 way done…
A: Cape Epic
B: Lanzarote 4 Day
And some local midweek stuff in the summer
I did the 3 day version of TSE on a single speed back in 2015. It’s a phenomenal event!! I’d love to get back do the full race but time & health has not allowed since then.
That’s a total bucket list event for me, have it penciled in for 2021 (which just seems really weird to type!). Good luck, hope you have an awesome time!
I will probably do it if I have a good race at Leadville. Have to love Palo Duro!
joberg2c in South Africa. A very special tour.
Are the Wednesday night rides in the front range? I’ve been looking for some local, low-pressure XC races to join in addition to the few enduros currently on my schedule.
That’s awesome!
His races are in Steamboat.
There are some wednesday night races around Morrison. not sure how popular they are as there is a wednesday night crit in Golden at the State Police test track - the crit is just called 'CSP.
There’s a very competitive wednesday night every week series in Summit County too. The locals who do race XC in Breckenridge are ridiculously fast. Same with Steamboat.
Definitely understandable. Sounds like you did well racing Expert when you moved up and are doing well for 3 years of riding. Good luck this upcountry year.
Recently signed up for my A race for the year - Singletrack 6 now in June. Going to try to get on the podium in Open as a team with my buddy. Good locations this year: Fernie
High Cascades 100
Bunch of events in BC (homeland)
Fernie is awesome (as is their brewery) and a great event. have fun!
No, Steamboat. While they are fun races, and not taken too seriously, people still ride hard. Climb for anywhere up to an hour, and then descend. Not a typical XC race. But probably good for enduro practice given the long descents!
I moved from Chicago area a few years ago. The local guys here are so much faster.
I am racing Cape Epic this year. As it is few month before the local road and MTB season even starts in Estonia, then it is easy to balance between Cape Epic and road races. Cape Epic is in March and after that I have almost 3 month to prepare for Road Nationals in the end of June and XCO nationals in the middle of July.
Good luck to you!
Solid, well rounded, plan. Sounds like fun.
That’s setting the bar high! I love it. Best of success at Cape Epic , and nationals
