What workout did you do today? (2023)

Back at it after some work travel and boring spin bike hotel workouts…

Did 3x15 Threshold workout with some Z2 tacked on, to make it up the Zwift Ventoux… Planned to do 3x12 but realized that I can’t import Workouts on Android, so I just took the 3x15 from Zwift. Went well but It was for sure on the uper end for the first Threshold workout with the new FTP.

The struggle bus came for me today…

I occasionally ride indoors.
Life got in the way the past 3 weeks. I’m starting to find balance though.

I was also “gifted” an extra 2 weeks before the first race of the season (i.e., they pushed the race schedule to the right a little) so I should be able to catch up on fitness.

2+ hour trail run 21.8km 400m+
After weekend leg opener I could feel my hamstrings, so took Monday off to give them an extra 24 hours to recover. On this run I could still feel hamstrings but they didn’t get any worse, if anything aching faded away for most of run. Assuming just a bit of overexertion I can ignore and continue as normal.

Do like this route, all the hard work is in first half, then a nice run home. Got a short trip to IOM at the weekend, will try and get some Fell running & Beach running in

A little threshold work after finishing night shift was just what the doc ordered. Legs were a little heavy but I’m now fully awake :call_me_hand:

Last load before the grasshopper this weekend…

Pisgah +5 (fail)

Didn’t get the failure survey for some reason but I needed three 30-second back pedals. First was due to a mental lapse. The last two were because my legs were cooked.

Heseman - two hours of zone 2, it was my longest indoor ride to date definitely need to remember to do a little standing early and often

Last workout before vacation, coach decided to send me off with a bang. Last interval was just a little much, so backed off a hair.

65 minutes total at FTP, 5mins at 95%, balanced out with endurance to make it a solid 3 hours.

See everyone in about 10 days!

That’s nuts!! Solid effort too!

Yeah, plenty of time to recover though, so why not!

My FTP may have crept up a little over this last block too, but still.

Mt Hale +3 outside on my day off with pretty amazing weather. 4x9 threshold intervals with 9min recoveries felt really good. I moved this workout to my rest day (today) so I could do it outside and I’m glad I did.

Nice and easy. Not sure I understand the purpose of these sweet spot rides that are only a few TSS more than a high endurance ride (eg Boarstone, Lachat, etc). I’ll take it, for today, given how early I had to get up to squeeze this in before kiddo soccer games.

Standing with increasing frequency as the ride went on (evidenced by my cadence dips). Nothing like a 3 hour indoor ride to start second-guessing your saddle choice :joy:

Depends where you are in your plan but at 3.6 it’s mostly to prep you for longer harder ss intervals. If you mark it easy it should bump you up to something a bit more challenging next time or you could select a Stretch alternative.

Tempo is no joke…my legs are feeling it! Good thing I have a motivational reminder on my stem cap.

Last year I hit 300 hrs on the bike which was my best season yet. This ride puts me at 120 hrs YTD on track for my goal of 360 hours in 2023!

Did 4x15 Threshold on Friday, felt really good Legs burnt in the last interval but never felt like it got unmanageble. Tomorrow it’s 3x20 lets see how I cope with 5 minutes more per Interval.

On Saturday it was only 1.5h of Z2 instead of 2h because of the lack of time.

I think you could literally do an hr of zone 2 while sleeping at this point :sunglasses:
