What workout did you do today? (2022)

SS up to 60 min interval progressed faster than anticipated, so decided to cut the block by a week and finish it with VO2 teaser before transitioning to power build.

Last workout of this build phase. Didn’t seem particularly hard on paper but oh boy did it hurt! Usually threshold efforts are fairly easy until around halfway mark but the 30s efforts at the start really make a difference.

Bluebell +1

Finished FasCat’s 10-Week Weight Lifting Program yesterday. The cycling portion is basically Traditional Base MV. Normally today would be a day off of the bike but I moved tomorrow’s workout to this morning due to the holiday and work. Starting the 6-week Polarized MV plan in lieu of SSB I MV. Bluebell +1 is my ā€˜go to’ workout in lieu of the ramp test. TBH, the first couple of VO2 intervals after 10 weeks of endurance were a little rough but glad to have completed it.

Nice start to the week

Wanted to try a proper race.

App crashed at 90s to start, loaded back in dead last and then trying to leap frog past the occasional solo rider and find a group to hang onto.

Blew up after 33 minutes without finding anyone.

Saddle Mountain this evening.

First VO2 effort after my recent FTP bump so was a little unsure how it would pan out.

Turned out it felt pretty straightforward and so I tagged a block of easy L1 on the end.

Rated as ā€˜Moderate’ and AT said it was a +3.4 Breakthrough workout.

Confusingly AT hasn’t adjusted any future workouts in the current block and the PL level on my career page still says 1.1 for VO2 Max even though the notes on the Calendar say this is a level 4.4 workout?

Not sure what’s going on there  as I haven’t altered any of the workouts / deleted or added any new, from the plan that plan builder created.

A Recovery Week for me and Pettit was in my Calendar. Its reassuring that after I was hit a few weeks back my left leg is starting to balance out the right leg again and with a little concentration the pedaling was a lot less clacky!

Oh and I decided to go somewhere a wee bit warmer for it.

Took a couple tries. Had a combination of tech and motivation issues on the second try but did, sort of, finish it.

This one kinda hurt

That’s a tough one for sure …

I think I have got that one next week (the day after a ramp which I’ll probably switch for an 8 minutes) or something like it at least. I remember seeing steps after a warm up but before the main intervals also. Well done :muscle::+1:

San Pedro

First workout of POL Base MV. I’ve got that sore legs good kind of feeling after weeks of Traditional Base. :muscle:

Today I had an FTP-test to kick off the second part of sweet spot build. The test protocol I’ve used is basically 35 to 40 minute straight threshold interval with slowly increasing power until exhaustion. So kinda sorta like a good ol’ ramp-test but not quite.

I have to admit, I was quite nervous before the test becouse, as you know, testing hurts. Didn’t quite dig as deep as I hoped but still got a new pr so definately worth it!

That looks like a damn tough session. Curious to know what did you see in terms of a result given the peak power was pretty high at nearly 500w?

I take you rode it. Don’t keep us in suspense what work out is it ?

2 hour SS Kabati. Thought it might seem long ,but watching the Zwift Academy finals helped pass the time,
Interesting, it 's come out as the ā€œunusedā€ version, not my recorded version…
Just experimenting with different ways of putting them on here
Last time I took a screen shot which also worked ok.
Will try something else next time

I just pulled up! 4 times for 12 times.

I’m sorry to dissapoint, but I think that 500w effort was during the warm up which is the first 25 minutes of the workout above

The result was 335w, though. 10 watt increase with just ssb1 + 3 weeks of short power build. This is my first try with TR and I have to say I’m pretty impressed.

Great result! That’s a strong number to be starting off with  :muscle:t2:
