What workout did you do today? (2022)

Easy endurance before the brick tomorrow. Went for a run yesterday and my legs/quads were not happy before or afterwards. Rated today as moderate since the final interval increase required a bit of concentration even with the effort being relatively low.

Finished up then showered, tried on some air recovery boots, and fell asleep during the air squishes.

Pisgah +5 outdoors

Tried a new hill for VO2 efforts - way, way too steep :see_no_evil:. Smashed through the power targets, but my powers a bit on the spikey side with all the ramps. The search for the perfect hill continues!

Still battling … Feel dry and lungs still feel a bit average.

Endurance really seems down. HR was up at threshold (and parts of the higher intervals definitely felt like they were going to drag me down).

Looking forward to coming right. Hopefully fitness will still be maintained from these efforts for when I can start back at some higher numbers.

Mount Tai, which is a bunch of 20 sec repeats. I love these short hard efforts.

Had a week off structure to go and ride my bike around Mallorca. I know, it’s tough but, someone has to do it

Then a recovery week and now we’re back at it. Diamond Valley Road Race this morning. This felt good and I love this kind of work.

Trying to do more of my workouts outside now that we’re getting enough sunlight in the morning before work.

This is 8x4’ vo2max intervals with 4’ rbi. I have a section of trail near my house that’s perfect for anything under 5’ and it’s more or less on the way to work. So I did these with a backpack, continued on to the office, showered and then to my desk, just like old times.

Hooboy. How do you get through that? Watch a long movie?

Train now

With holidays and life’s unexpected turns I haven’t been home a lot and thus the pain cave has been neglected. have managed to get some running in, 200km in last 30 days, something to keep the blood pumping.

Back on the bike last night, managed 45 minutes of train now, all PLs looking sad!

There’s no way I’d manage an hour at sweetspot, basically where I left myself before all these travels. Hopefully if I manage a few sessions a week I’ll quickly get back to where I was…

Nice IF, especially for an hour and a half :muscle::+1:

It still amazes me that even on a hard ride like that you don’t take the full rest drop. :muscle:

This felt surprisingly good. I think my FTP might need a little bump up, but shouldn’t the AI in Train Now take care of that? I thought we didn’t have to test FTP anymore, but maybe I just dreamed that.

First VO2 max efforts in a while:

Then a little active recovery:

  • There is the option to use the AI FTP Detection, but it’s not “automatic” in a way you may be thinking. See below for full details and how to employ the tool.

  • 🎉🎉🎉 Introducing AI FTP Detection 🎉🎉🎉

  • There needs to be a Ramp Test on your calendar right now. This is because it is still in testing and not “officially release” at this time.

First actual TR workout in 6+ months as I have been riding more outside since I got a mtb and just casually zwifting but getting in 8 hours avg this year so far.

Felt decent and used TrainNow. Kept my old ftp and only had to move it down 5% but could have got through it at 100%.

Tested Positive for Covid immediately after :man_facepalming:.

Hopefully it’s not long. Really struggling with how many workouts I’ve missed since Easter.

I’ve redone my Training Plan this morning (using a starting date two weeks later than original) which pushes out “Build” until mid June. Hopefully I can get in a week or two more of base riding again before then.

From Thursday. Missed some rides and AT actually recommended a Ramp Test! Instead I did the original workout.

Strength warmup. These actually felt good until the ramp down from the 3rd peak starting interval 2, that’s when the burn hit like a tidal wave. Held it together and finished, yay!

Easyish run tonight in our early May heat wave. Bleh. Bright side is we can call it Heat Adaptation Training.
