Final recovery week of base. Strength warmup then this jobber. One week until AT tells me how training inconsistency has affected my fitness. :grimacing:

Not really sure how build will be. In the past I’ve missed so many workouts I just delete the plan and start over, right back in base.

5 weeks until the first scheduled tri of the season!

Something is up. That felt really tough and I had Threshold HR for a concerning amount of it.

Mid “rest” week. Tried to bang out a decent SS workout as most the rest of the week is completely off the bike.

I can’t have lost this much fitness (I hope). There are a lot of bugs around at the moment… Feeling scratchy now. Try and recoup and regroup before next Monday and the final part of SSBHV :crossed_fingers:.

I was able to get on the bike after a four-day break due for vacation. I adjusted plan to overlap with recovery week but was good to spin the legs again.

My left IT band has flared up again and apparently I’m favoring it, as evident by the L/R imbalance. Need to hit the rehab exercises as I start Build next week.

I’m certainly no expert in reading those stats or physiotherapy but do they stats not suggest you are slightly favouring the right (53% to 47%) rather than the left. Touchwood, I’ve not had a ITB problem for circa 15 or 16 years and that mirrors my problem at the time (although I think I had a more noticeable imbalance according to the physio). Due to my right leg being shorter than my left ,the right thigh developed physically bigger in diameter (stronger) and as a result of it being stronger I favoured the right side although it was having to reach slightly further. This caused the unfavoured Left ITB to become taught to compensate. Which in turn eventually pulled the right patella out of alignment so it was rubbing against the bone; my right knee was agony! It can also have something to do with your back muscles and probably other things too :exploding_head: I hope you get it sorted !

Thanks! My low back discomfort is definitely related to (maybe even the cause of) the ITB issue. Even though my trainer is strapped down to my rocker plate, one of the bands came loose and the trainer moved such that I had been leaning left without realizing it. Body compensated but I eventually over did it. Trainer is aligned on the plate now and the back is slowly getting better. Now for the knee …. Also, I’m hopeful that more outside riding will help now that the weather is getting warmer. (Really, I just need to get warm clothes and stop being a wimp about the cold.)

I’ve done this workout on a couple of occasions so far this year. It’s fast becoming one of my favourites.

After two “failed” workouts this week it felt good to knock this out:

Light spin to keep the legs awake. Practice tomorrow, race on Sunday.

Dreaded this one for the last couple of days.

Now tomorrow adaptive training made it even worse.

Let’s see if I can manage it.

@facmarques, what plan are you doing? Those are solid intervals!

@rkoswald I’m doing the time trial speciality mid volume. This is the penultimate week.

I had to look that one up. Seems a good one for XCM prep. Thanks for that, I’ll add it to my plan somewhere along the way.

Good work on the ride.

This is what it looks when you finish your warmup and just as you’re about to start your first interval, you flat, realize you have the wrong tube in your saddle bag, but luckily your wife is home and she is able to pick you up, and you go home, fix the flat, and head back out to finish the workout.

AT will suggest a new FTP on Tuesday. :grimacing:

No riding but a cold lake swim followed by my first ever half marathon through the countryside (not a race, just training) should’ve posted yesterday but I spent the rest of the day stuffing my face full of food.
