What workout did you do today? (2022)

I pulled my lower back on Thursday and have been trying to let it heal, but I was going stir crazy, so I did 2 hours today. Interestingly, my back doesn’t hurt in the riding position, but hurts when sitting up or when bending over to dial in my shoes. You can see I went too long without standing at the start and had to take a lot of standing breaks nearer to the finish.

New AI FTP. 250 → 259
And first time using my new Kickr Bike.
Also, my HRM must have glitched… I didn’t get close to 192bpm.

San Joaquin +1

3 x (8 x 50 / 40 @ 130%). Wanted to quit several times, including after the warm up. Also, for the first time ever, had the slightest feeling of wanting to :face_vomiting:. Not sure what that was all about but it went away so ok. I’m so ready for a short vacation and recovery week.

First day of Build. I want to go back to Base! :grimacing:

When my scheduled Ramp Test got deleted (by the AI system), this is the workout which replaced it. My FTP didn’t/wasn’t updated by FTP Detection and I sailed through.

After this workout, I put a Ramp Test on my calendar and used FTP Detection. I now realise that I should have done this prior to this workout… 5 watt increase. Onwards :+1:

First workout of Build… First workout with my new (AI detected) FTP… Decided to swap in Coyote as an alternative ‘stretch’ workout rather than the planned achieveable one.

Rated ‘hard’ because things got ugly [bonus point for a film reference].

  • 40m commute + 5km run this AM.

With instructional text turned off, this is identical (and I mean truly identical) to Mount Field -1, which I did yesterday.

Interestingly, my heart rate was lower all around today.

Had a easy week last week with no riding over the weekend due to family commitments, but enjoyed tonights ride and marked it as hard.

Dang. I’m like the worst sprinter in the world! This was so hard and it’s not even supposed to be hard. I literally had to get off the saddle to get the power up, then I would run out of gas and drop … and the intervals are only 15 seconds!! I think my legs have totally forgotten how to work hard! Lol. Okay! At least I have lots of room for improvement!!

I did the exact same thing. Forgot AI had deleted the test. Did it after my ride. And got a 4 watt increase.

My FTP is now up 14 points since FTP detection started, which I’m thrilled with. I just hope I can sustain this growth.

OMG I love this. I’m going to write this down.

Thank you @kjdhawkhill.
You’re awesome!

Not as bad as I thought it’d be. Only about 10 mins in VO2 HR wise, so lungs/heart weren’t really doing enough work, but legs were trashed going into it. I absolutely ripped it up on a outdoor ride on Sunday. Set a 20 min power record for the year - pretty chuffed .

Started tough, ended feeling really good.

Catching up on some fantastic XCO racing from the weekend.

Rated this one as Moderate. The intervals were hard but by the end of the ride I was ready for more.

Planned was a 4.8 VO2max workout until AT dropped it to a 3.8. picked this since it was the only choice between the 2 workouts with a 60 minutes duration.

I usually only post successful (ish) workouts here but this last last night and this morning, respectively.

(Kaiser)

In both cases I just stopped well before physiology would dictate. I did Kaiser successfully last week; its painful but certainly doable. Whether Hurd +1 is or not is debatable; it’s rated the same as Kaiser despite having 4 more intervals.

Yikes. Those look very difficult! :frowning_with_open_mouth:

So happy to see this as my recommended workout for today:
