What Pro Cyclists Do That Make Them Better at Training | Zach Calton | Ask a Cycling Coach Podcast 575

Zach joined us for a detailed discussion on how pros approach endurance training differently than amateurs. It turned into a discussion filled with actionable tips on how he approaches training plan adjustments, what he prioritizes in his training from a planning and execution standpoint, his tips on what he focuses on during workouts in order to execute them better, and much more.

I personally loved this conversation, so I hope you all enjoy it as well!

Enjoyed this cast. :slightly_smiling_face:

Agree it’s on a spectrum, but I fluctuate between planning a smaller volume to make it more consistently achievable, to planning a bigger volume and assuming a lower compliance rate, and average out a similar volume!

Really enjoyed this podcast, and could easily listen to Zach Calton and Jonathan nerd out on training.

Zach seems like a solid dude, hope he does well in the LTGP this year.

The correct answer is… both.

This was a good “back to the basics” podcast. If you’re new to structured training or miss the “should I focus on intensity or volume?” and “do I need to do long rides before a long event?” type chat, this is for you.
