What is your handlebar Drop and Reach measurement?

3 questions for the roadies:

  1. What is your measured handlebar drop (defined in this situation as floor to top of seat (in the middle of saddle where an imaginary line from center of seat post on same trajectory would meet the top of saddle LESS floor to top edge of hoods where hands rest)
  2. Reach (wall to bend in hoods where they start to curve up SUBTRACT wall to center of seat as defined above)
  3. AGE/FTP

Wondering about decreasing my drop to hold longer ‘puppy paws’ position. Is my reach measurement too extreme? (140mm stem, seat slammed forward though). unsure if my current fit is in the middle of the range for racey focused people or if its too much/little

  1. Drop = 4.3 cm (1.69 inch)
  2. Reach = 82.5cm (32.48 inch
  3. 331FTP 37 yr old

The numbers are wildly different based on the size of the rider. I have short legs, long torso, and average arms. My ideal drop and reach are going to be different to someone who is identical height but has a short torso and short arms, for example.

Drop: 3.8 cm ( 1.5” )
Reach: 77.15 cm ( 30.4”)
Age: 75
FTP: 182
Height: 172cm ( 5’8”)

This is a bit different than when I was racing years ago. I was probably a lot more laid out. Longer stem.
