What is the worst cycling food you’ve ever tasted?

Oh yea, it adds 40% to your FTP, 400W to your sprint, grows hair on your head and grows your junk by 4" :face_vomiting:

A very under-ripe banana (ordinarly I’d say a banana is one of the best). I was in the office yesterday and there’s often a fruit bowl. The bananas they had though were so under-ripe that the skin wasn’t peeling away from the skin yet and the banana once I got into it tasted like onion or something

Jonathan’s dream snack!

Is this where we start the thread on what level of ripeness is correct?

My vote is bright yellow skin with just a couple of brown spots. No green left.

I second that vote and I think something about that stage is optimum for energy transfer

Just in case you weren’t around when this was a “thing”, @Jonathan stated that he likes bananas green and crunchy and he hates them if they have even a single brown spot. #shudder

That opinion is certainly in the correct topic of worst cycling food.:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Bananas are In that uncanny valley of ‘regular food but also definitely cycling food.’

It’s an interesting tangent, and on that subject I’d like to add that I am nowhere near pro enough to eat any substantial amount of plain pasta.

Fig Newtons…the original energy bar.

PowerBar Harvest :face_vomiting:

Not only were these Cherry bars baseline terrible but 15+ years ago I ate one while passing a particularly ripe cattle barn. Now the smell of cows takes me back to the exact time I was eating that POS bar.

I tune into this thread because the literary/poetic qualities of the descriptions are quite epic. They really share the angst and pain of a horrible experience.

Skratch Labs had a grape flavor drink mix and that is the worst drink mix I’ve ever had. Thankfully they discontinued it.
