I have done all disciplines but haven’t raced since 2016 bc of school / pandemic.
Plan to race next year.
Current ftp is 4.8w/kg at 75kg (all time high years back was about 5 tho I was thinner).
Avg CTL from past year is prob 55 tho fluctuates between 50-65. I train regularly around 10hpw with 2 intense training days and 1 heavy weight lift day.
Spent the last 9mo focusing on lower end power, here is my curve
I believe I would/will be cat1 in all if I raced/race enough. I last raced back when upgrade points only counted for the given season (now is USA you can count for 36months). Really like CX abd longer road race ‘races of attrition’ bc I can sit ride tempo/SS for hours and have good short end power repeatability for attacks and punchy climbs.
Rode for 3 years prior to 2016 break. Have ridden for about 2 years consistently up until now. I’m 30yo
Man, pretty heavy hitters and big engines here… let me be the odd one out and share my puny stats (so others don’t feel bad! )
37y old, been doing mostly road (no real racing, so no cat), training with some level of structure since 2-3 years, CTL usually around 70.
Tiny puny engine, 256w FTP (~3.2w/kg) and a recent 3-min Power PR of 334w. Slow
CTL is 98 right now. Will let it slide down in Oct.
At this point, I’m just training to keep weight off and slow the physical decline. No more pinning a number on. The ironic thing is that I’ve had more of a focus on 3-10min zone 5 intervals than I ever have. Use it or lose it – quickly, if you’re past 50.
36yo road/crit/TT racer here. Started racing in 2018, and am currently a cat 3. Haven’t done much racing since 2019, but was able to do a few this year. Mostly racing Masters 1/2/3 as a cat 3. FTP is about 4.3-4.4w/kg @ 93-94kg (407w), 5min power is right around 500w, 10min is around 450w. I’ve heard should probably try out track pursuit
Typical CTL during base phase is 115-125, then drops to 105-115 during build, and is somewhere in the 95-100 range when I’m tapering and peaking for an A race.
39, fast approaching 40 cat 1 xc, cat 3 cx, cat 4 road though I have enough points to upgrade.
CTL is around 80, will get up to 85/90 in a few weeks then dip before my ‘peak’ CX races in October.
Sitting close to 3.9 w/kg living at 10,000’ in CO. Could be higher but I have yet to lose the pandemic pounds. Probably one of the lowest ‘fit’ seasons in a while for me. Was around 4.3 in 2019
I’m nearly 46 yo and a lightweight (5ft 9in and circa 59kg) so I’ve a quite low raw FTP of 260w, so I do w/kg and then its a more reasonable 4.4w/kg. I don’t know how the calculates it but Spindata for TTs has me down as a C cat (C6 as of last night). Looking back at my calendar depending upon weekend rides and the length of TT’s my TSS is between 400 and 770 this year.
38 years old, have held a Racing license since 2019.
I train 6-8 h per week (mid volume), 80-90% indoors due to family constraints. Currently racing cat 2 in germany (there are only 2 categories here) and will move up to cat 1 next year.
2019: 290-300 W, 87 kg - Not competitive
2020: 300-310 W, 86 kg - first year with TR, due to pandemic only 2 races (cat 1/2). Able to hang with the Field for 45 minutes.
2021: 330 - 340 W, 77 kg - regular top 10 finishes, first podium.
2022: probably back to fighting for survival in cat 1.
I have a good kick, which helps a lot in criterium racing.
