I’m not riding in your draft!
Addendum: heavy sweater here too. I use full finger gloves throughout the year, and have found them to be cooling during hot muggy summers; meaning, your hands will feel cooler (temp-wise) with gloves than barehands. They’re summer version, very thin and no padding.
skirt, you say. I say Kilt. I bought one a million years ago as a collegiate racer and still use it to THIS DAY.
About 2 years ago I started keeping a small bottle of Tide under my bathroom sink. I let a few kits accumulate, then just give them a quick hand wash in the sink with warm water and a bit of Tide, let them soak for about 10 minutes, rinse them out, and hang to dry in the shower. My kits have been lasting much longer now that they never go through the washing machine. And I don’t have to worry about my wife accidently putting them through the dryer ![]()
I dont think I’ve ever had a piece of kit that got dried anywhere other than the dryer ![]()
Same…and I have kit pieces that are decades old. For the lifespan I get out of kit, putting them in the dryer is the last of my concerns.
Yep. To elaborate just a bit…I havent had anything wear out yet other than bibs. Bibs tend to get a bit, umm, transparent after 3 years or so of once weekly wear…so like 100-200 rides. After that they go on trainer duty for another year or 2.
I’m not starting a second laundry protocol to make bibs have a useful life beyond ~5 years.
Agreed. I can’t wear out my kits as fast as I get them (2 per year through my team). I don’t get to ride outside that often, but for some reason, it’s a huge mental hurdle to don my nice new kits on the trainer, even though they’ll never wear out.
Insightful stuff, right there. Reminds me that quote attributed to Eddy Merckx: “Don’t buy upgrades, ride up grades.”
Good tip.
I don’t speak Swedish, but I’m guessing “vind” means wind?
Edit: @killroy123 bit me to it!!!
It’s all fun and games until you can’t go within 200 yards of a school ![]()
Back seat of a Mini Cooper for me. Had to take up yoga…
If you’re stuck hours from home for a ride and it’s colder than expected vaseline works surprisingly well in lieu of leg warmers.
Do we have a large jar of vaseline with us while stuck on this ride hours away from home?
Phrasing…![]()
This may not be lesser known, but everyone needs to know it.
Every time you put your bike on the rack on the top of the car, move your garage door opener to an unusual spot in the car. When you get home, you will ask yourself “why isn’t that opener where it should be?”
I get around this by having a hitch mounted rack.
Also, I can’t fit my car in the garage.
Yeah, nah… I will never put bikes on the roof of any car I’m driving.
I’m no longer much of a Velominati fan, but rule 64 was always one of my favourites
#Rule 64. // Cornering confidence increases with time and experience.
This pattern continues until it falls sharply and suddenly.
