In 2021 I ran 42 Pathfinders (the pic), in 2022 I ran 43 Gravel King SS. Was around 25-28psi with inserts. I’m 160lb for reference.
It’s an awesome event, good luck!

I ran Pathfinder Pro 38’s last year….IIRC, I was running ~27psi. Zero issues during Dustbowl last year.
This year I am running 42’s just because they are what I have mounted this year.
Yeah I have some 35 Rene Herse tires I like. Wasn’t sure if I’d be better off on the 38s though.
Im running 38 Gravel king SS since its whats on my bike. They measure to 40
I wouldn’t like to do any leaning on the 2nd bike, his butt already looks too close to the ground ![]()
I think you would be fine……honestly, I considered riding my CAAD13 road bike w/ 35’s but I don’t have those wheel set up as tubeless.
I can’t remember if I said this already, but I really wish we could see this analysis in the real world.
The reason I say this is because the other day there was an instagram post of Sofia at crusher with a water bottle in her back pocket. Due to the gravel, it appeared to be bouncing around quite a lot. Now, I have no idea if that matters for aero dynamics or not, but it really made me wonder how much of these results are applicable when riding on gravel roads.
Just food for thought. Would also interested if anyone knows the science behind this.
Wow, HED released the Jet 180 EC gravel version (25mm internal width) of the Jet 180mm deep triathalon wheel. We need a youtuber to do a windtunnel test of it, very curious.

I honestly though this was an April Fools post from them. I want to see this in action!
I saw it at Big Sugar last year…seems like overkill to me, but ![]()

you may not know it yet, but your bike is unrideable without it ![]()
But does it make a cool sound?
Add me to the list who bought a “back bottle”. I put it in the center pocket of my jersey (I’m not really understanding the “put the pointy end against your kidney” thing, so it had a weird point sticking out the bottom of the jersey, not sure if I did something wrong there). It was nice and cool and lasted about 2 hours against my back before the water became lukewarm (in 85 degree temps). I definitely liked it and will use again. The only downsides I see are the weird point and that it feels kind of hot against your back once all the ice melts.
I had a “back bottle” revelation today. Up until now, I’ve thought of it as a third water bottle that I could use as a refill when my other two bottles ran out. Today, I used it as water to squirt down my back. It was amazing how much it reduced RPE to have that icy cold water there. In the past, I waited for the bottle to go to room temp and then drank it. This time, I used it while it was still icy cold and just trickled it all down the inside of my jersey collar. I probably refreshed it every 10 minutes and got a good 10 pours out of it. It was really a game changer in terms of heat impacting my RPE. When I went inside after my 3 hour ride in high heat and humidity, my skin where the water had been was cool to the touch!
Haha…I just watched the video on the Back Bottle site. He is riding one of the bikes I did back in the day….not many of them out there any more. ![]()
