Was your dad actively fit and healthly?

Thanks clip78

Sadly I became athletic after my son was born so he’ll have to deal with the nurture over nature!

I think the active habits you pick up as a child greatly influence your future activity levels and health as an adult. Learning good habits from your parents in your early years is so important.

100%

it’s like a cheat code. I thought everyone trained as a kid. Now I now how rare it was.

This also seems evident by so many people that “peaked in high school.” They may have had some drive and athletic ability which made them good athletes, but if they didn’t develop habits, or have them instilled in them by parents, after high school much of that drive and discipline disappeared.

I think in the coming decades that will change a bit. Fitness both in strength training and endurance sports as a hobby seems to have increased exponentially since the era of many current baby boomers and older generations that raised many of us.

My dad wasn’t athetic at all. I’m certainly not gifted in that manner, but hopefully my higher activity levels will help some. I think inherited genetics matter but a good environment helps a lot too!
