When doing workouts on TR or TR/Zwift, or Zwift in general, the power sent from the trainer is far lower than what I am actually putting out. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know of a fix?
Do you have a second device that you can record the Favero power on?
Then you can compare the two files using zwiftpower or DC Rainmaker’s tool.
Do you definitely see the same thing when you do your workouts on the TR app? I.e. have you ruled out zwift as the issue?
crank length calibration discrepency perhaps?
I went through something similar with my trainer last year. I recommend contacting Wahoo and working with them to reset your trainer’s calibration.
I tried to use my Garmin 840, but it syncs to my Wahoo trainer, rather than my Assioma peddles.
It’s the same issue if I train directly with the TR app on my iPad.
I had long suspected the same thing with my kickr/ assioma power pedals, didn’t match but wasn’t sure which was the more accurate. Then I got a second set of assiomas (mx’s) and both sets of pedals matched great, but the kickr was still off (like the OP, read significantly lower). Did several of the “factory spin downs” and finally got it matching my pedals, then after another month or so I had an unusually hard workout, compared it again and it was again waayyy out. So I finally gave up and just started keeping my power pedals on the trainer bike and using power match in TR. Now everything has been good, and my power numbers on the trainer are higher than they have been for the last several seasons.
So maybe try a factory spin down in the wahoo app, but otherwise power match in TrainerRoad works very well.
Go into the sensors menu, find the Wahoo trainer, and turn off the connection. It’s also possible that you may have paired the trainer separately as a PM, cadence sensor. or speed sensor. Those should be turned off too.
I found an older 830. I’m going to factory reset it, and then add only my peddles. Then I’ll record my next workout, and see what happens.
Cool. I use a previous Garmin like that too. What I do is set up a separate account in Garmin Connect for that device so its data doesn’t conflict with the data in my usual account.
Is this a bike you just leave on the trainer and this don’t want to keep the pedals on there and swap to outside bikes?
Anyone coming in here after this, save your money:
Works perfect.
This is my gravel bike. These Assioma Pro MX-2’s stay on this bike.
I also have a road bike with Assioma Duo’s and a TT Bike with Assioma Pro-RS’s.
The peddles stay on their respective bikes.
Zwiftpower also has a decent tool for this…. but DC Rainmaker does enough deserves the money ![]()
I had to set-up a dummy account under my wife’s email, but got what I needed. ![]()
You’ve made a bit of a meal of that but you got there in the end - all you needed to do is record it on your Garmin as well as zwift - download the fit file from Garmin connect and delete it afterwards if you wanted…
As for your issue - it would be interesting if the same happened if you turned off the ERG mode smoothing on your kickr V6 (done via the wahoo app) - but I think you will need to reach out to wahoo and get them to talk you through doing a factory spin down on your kickr to see if it helps.
Maybe I missed something but if you’re using one of your 3 bikes with a power meter on the trainer then isn’t this the situation for power match? Is there a reason it’s not being used I didn’t see further up in the thread?
As long as the pedals are consistent with one another, I’d just use them as the “source of truth” and use Powermatch and not worry about the trainer readings being different.
I’m having the same issue with a replacement kicker bike v2 but in my case I’ll need to swap my assiomas from trainer to outside bike when I ride outside
When using the trainer I pair the trainer to TR, Zwift, TP Virtual, etc as my Power Source and ERG/ Resistance Source. I have not been using the peddles as my Power Source, I’ve been trusting the thrainer.
Lately, maybe since early December, I have noticed that middle of the road training sessions were feeling increasingly harder. I just though I was getting out of shape.
After using the peddles to check the numbers I was getting from the trainer, I noticed a large gap in what the trainer was reading vs what the peddles were showing.
This is where I am now…
Get in touch with Wahoo support!
I haven’t dealt with them personally, but for my similar trainer issues, Elite had me perform a calibration ride using their software and send them the fit file recorded with my power meter on that ride. They were then able to send me a configuration file for the trainer that completely solved the problem.
