I have no memory of that… I guess some of us have really short working memories! ![]()
The Wahoo Ace release is seemingly imminent:
I’m curious. I’d be in the market for an upgrade: my Bolt v1’s battery life is atrocious, has quite a few dead pixels and a broken rubber cover for the power button (and hence, it is no longer sealed properly against water ingress).
Launch imminent, wind sensor sounds intriguing but cant see it being an accurate aero drag sensor??
Bigger screen and looks like LEDs are gone.
They won’t be missed.
But they kept the Zoom buttons, my favorite feature of Wahoo head units. ![]()
I always use the leds, especially during planned workouts but also during regular rides to check power…
I’ve used the LEDs for different things from time to time. After all, they are there. But in my case, I always found the unit was able to display the same information in an equal or better way without the LEDs. This is especially the case now that power and HR can be shown in a colored background corresponding with zone. I’ll happily swap for the increased screen real estate.
I like the LEDs, except that they are very hard to see on even not-so-bright days. (I have a Bolt v1, so perhaps the newer Wahoo head units have brighter LEDs.)
With a big screen, you could put the “LEDs” virtually on the side of the head unit. I’d like to see the option, but I won’t cry over their demise.
For heart rate and power perhaps but for target power during workouts I would really miss the leds but perhaps they can implement a sort of virtual leds to indicate whether or not you are on target or a little or a lot over/under
Not really in the market for a new head unit but have to admit the wind sensor thing sounds interesting. Looking forward to the official launch.
That resolution looks: ![]()

Great big screen but that resolution permits tiny little fonts and numbers that I couldn’t read ![]()
I wonder how well it’ll be possible to configure to provide big fonts for rapid readability…
It still has the Zoom buttons on the side, so I assume the size of the data fields will scale with the zoom level.
Now old, and with failing eyes
, I fear everything screen-wise designed by young 'uns whose eyes still work how mine did less than 10 years ago…
I don’t use any reading glasses on the bike, and manage fine with my Bolt V2; it’ll be “funny” if a new giant screened Wahoo replacement is no better, or perhaps worse!
Solved my issues when riding outside…
This actually happened when I switched from original Bolt to Bolt V2. Fortunately, Wahoo gave me a discount on a new Roam and then I sold the new Bolt. They actually made some of the text smaller on the new Bolt vs the old, just as you suggested.
How do you think they’d work on ski goggles? I wear them for very cold endurance rides. Currently I rely on the Wahoo zoom feature.
