Using Zwift ride with normal cassette - virtual shifting

Hi,

I have a Zwift ride with kickr core v1, which works great in ERG mode on TR. I would love to use it in resistance mode for some workouts, but I cannot do that unless I use Zwift (let me know if I’m not correct here).

So what do the rest of do? Are you all just running your workouts in ERG mode always?

Any of you using a normal cassette with the Zwift ride, and switching to your regular road bike for resistance mode once in a while? If so how is that working out for you?

would be great if we could get some “virtual shifting”, like implemented in MyWhoosh, so we could perhaps change gears on the keyboard or use a 3rd party app for it.

I don’t know about the Zwift ride but you don’t need Zwift to switch to resistance mode. If you’re using the PC TR app it just a case of pressing ‘T’ or ‘M’ to toggle the mode any time you want or switching to resistance mode in the app.

Thanks, but you also need to increase/decrease the resistance in resistance mode when a eg new hard vo2max interval hit or something?

You do that with the < and > keys on a keyboard and it comes up on the android app when you enter resistance mode.

Ok, thanks. Guess it can be possible then with wiz app or bike control all then. Thanks!

If you want a Cog and Click like experience you could run the BikeControl.app which interfaces with TR and use cheap bluetooth volume controls to change virtual gears.

Replace you cassette with a single speed adapter, something like this : https://www.amazon.com/Bibike-Single-Conversion-Cassette-Spacers/dp/B09N1KPFTC/

Small additional question.

I have bike control app and try to get virtual shifting to work on TR on an IPad. Any succeeded with this?

I can get it to work on TR on pc, but IPad would be preferred. Would love to do my workouts in resistance mode as coach @Jonathan do
