Does anyone use a power breathe and is their use beneficial
Oxygen pipeline (limiters are brought out for healthy person, some illnesses can change what is limiting factor):
- ventilation (inhale, O2 diffusion) – ~3x excess capacity
- cardiac output (stroke volume x heart rate) – primary limiter
- O2 delivery to muscle – secondary limiter
- mitochondrial extraction – not limiter
Training with such device has modest effect (~2–3% in TT studies). It helps with a secondary issue, fatiguing breathing muscles competing for blood flow with your legs during long hard efforts (10min+). Address main limiters first before chasing this diminishing return.
They talked about this in the podcast about 6-8 episodes ago. Basic info was no research says they don’t much and no athletes use them, so it’s unlikely they even give even a marginal gain
