Hi All
I have a Wahoo Bolt v1. I noticed it was really wobbling in the mount today. I removed it during the ride and noticed that part of the top 2 back plate notches had sheared off. So, I need to urgently replace the head unit ideally by this weekend. Now, usually I’d go into the deep weeds of research when voluntarily upgrading but now I need to do it in short order.
Ideally, I’d like to go with a bigger screen. The Bolt has served me well and rarely let me down but some of the new features like Climb Pro and improved navigation would be nice. I need the unit to last for all day rides including cafe stops (10 hrs) The last research I did when the Roam 3 came out was that it had a lot of issues such as the screen visibility and Roam 2 seemed the safer purchase.
I wouldn’t be adverse to a Garmin 840 but I do love the intuitive interface of the Wahoo ecosystem. Also, in my cycling group there seem to be more issues with rides being prematurely saved and starting navigation routes with the Garmins. I’ve heard some good things about the Karoo but I personally don’t know anyone using one and I’m a Shimano DI2 user and last thing I heard you couldn’t see gear selection without a 3rd party app.
Have the Roam 3 issues been fixed or is Roam 2 still the safest bet? Or should I be wary of taking the old technology?
Are there any other issues / pitfalls to consider?
Many thanks for any feedback!
