45 mins will be a lot to get through! I’ll wait till later in the week. Maybe during one of my hot tub heat acclimatization sessions
I’m waiting for Silca/Dylan Johnson’s video on rolling resistance vs tire width. That should be an interesting one.

Yes, waiting on that one as well. I anticipated that you should go for max tire witdth… Because of limiting vibrations over a 11/12 hour period adds up.
Well…shit. My race is now in severe jeopardy. I was doing a recovery ride yesterday and got t-boned by a car. Went to the hospital via ambulance, etc. Everything is okay but we will see how I recover. My bike looks fine but I don’t know if I can trust it. My helmet is cracked throughout.
Eg:
I’d be taking it to a bike shop for a full inspection, saving the receipt and submitting to the insurance of the idiot who smoke you.
Oh, shit! That’s awful. Race aside, how are you feeling overall, no concussion or broken bones?
Like @wistoon33 said, get the bike fully evaluated and keep the receipt.
You said all was good, but was that relative to broken bones / serious injuries or all around? Any road rash, bruises, etc?
Glad you are OK, though…recover well!
Having cracked three helmets in less than 10 months, you may be able to at least get a discount on a replacement.
I cracked a Giro Eclipse that was less than a month old a couple of weekends ago. (Mud inflicted crash) Still have yet to test the shoulder for more than 4 hours, but I have a feeling it will be at least noticeable, if not a factor in my 200 this year.
That is awful! Hopefully you can heal up in time.
Thanks y’all.
Bike is already at the shop I bought it from for an appraisal. Likely going to be totaled.
Little bit of road (well, more like car) rash on my shoulder and neck and my neck is a bit stiff. TBD on concussive symptoms.
Thanks. I am already unfortunately aware of this—Specialized has a new helmet on the way to the shop at a discounted rate.
I know there were people in the “unpopular opinions” thread saying helmets don’t do anything. That’s not unpopular opinion, it’s just flat out not true. Additionally, for anyone who gets hit, make sure you’re transported to a trauma center and, if necessary, reiterate that you were in a high speed collusion, not a bump into a parked car.
Barring any concussive issues, I think you’ll be good to go by race day…the hay is already in the barn and a few days or even a week of laying low isn’t going to harm you at this point.
Fingers crossed for you!
Depending on where you live and the conditions of the accident - I’d expect insurance to cover any and all damaged equipment replacements. Save your receipts
+1000 on this. It’s up there with the flat earth folks…
Good to hear your injuries are not worse, good luck making it to the starting line.
Todays weather in Emporia.
Can we have a day like this in 2 weeks please?
I’ll be looking at how the weather is shaping up over the next 2 weeks. The biggest decision is if I keep my 47s on, or change to 42s for better mud clearance.
I’m looking too but the reality is it changes quickly. You may have a reasonable idea 2-3 days before but really only trust the night before or morning of. I’ve never had the forecast be accurate more than a day or two out.
But I still can’t help myself from looking and hoping!
Yeah. Forecast accuracy can be iffy, especially with thunderstorms. Helpful to know how much it rains in the days before tho, as that’s also a driver for now muddy it will be.
Was listening to the Bonk Bros podcast while riding today….holy hell, Keegan and Finsterwald are logging some serious miles. Back to back 40 hour weeks and something like 3000TSS.
I’m throwing my bike off a bridge just reading about that volume.
Miss-spelled Florida mountain
Well that volume is one way to make Unbound feel like an easy day…
They are either gonna rip the legs off everyone or they are going to come in completely overcooked…no middle ground.
