Tubeless tire user? Reminder to clear your tires before the season

I think it depends on the discipline. For a bike only used on road, I’d only swap tires around for races, otherwise just ride them until they wear out. For MTB/Gravel, I don’t think I’ve ever worn out a set of tires in a single season. But it’s also rare that a set of tires stay on the bike more than a month or 2 straight. And when racing a lot, tires often get swapped constantly depending on course. And I typically try to save race tires for race days, prefer to have fresh rubber on when racing if possible.

Was swapping conti race kings and the front tire was dry as a bone and all sealant dried up. Removal is like when people get a bad sunburn and peel off a layer of skin

I find peeling sealant like that oddly satisfying

I prefer to let a layer of latex like that stay put. It’s patching any previous flats and it provides additional flat protection.

Agree - I only remove if it’s more than just a film.

I use these eraser to clean out dry sealant. Takes about 10-15 minutes a tire.

I’ve never looked back, just put the tire on a work bench and a bit of light elbow grease.

I just finished cleaning up some tires for my CX bike that sat for eight years, came out like new.

I nowadays use power drill with drill brush attachment. Takes few mins max per tire.

I’ve never had it dry out like this before. Im sure I’ll get a nice buildup once I put them back on

I saw that on GCN video the other day. I’ll try that for the remaining on this tire. The other tire sealant was not dried out like this.

How are you making a tyre last more than one season?!

I use Orange Seal. It always seems to dry out like this.
