Weight of dried up sealant - 3 years worth! - Orange Seal

Ok, some fret about cleaning out tires annually. Some fret about the extra weight of sealant. I normally don’t clean out tires.

This tire dried up over the winter so my hand was forced. The grand total of three years of sealant is 44 grams. And I’m a heavy sealant user. No way am I trying to get by with 20 or 30mls to save weight. I start with 90mls on a new tire because it dries out faster than normal top ups. I top up with 60mls as needed - maybe once a month during the riding season. (The plastic bag didn’t even register 1g.)

I’m amazed at how long people keep bicycle tires! Good for you for not falling down the rabbit hole!

I moved to a wintery place where my tire no longer see as much pavement as they used to!

Yeah. In my case, riding gets spread between road, gravel, and mtb bikes, and a direct drive trainer, so my tires can last for a while.
