Yes, the new Race Days are a top tire on BRR. Slower than only TT tires with a high puncture score and very low weight. I didn’t like the OG SES tires, but these are tempting…
Kinda random question, but is RRs logo meant to look like a tire inflated on a rim? I just now saw/ realized it. Kinda cool
Does anyone know who ENVE is partnering with for these tires? (ie. who makes them?) There prior tires were sort of billed as a jack of all trades and didn’t really excel in anyone one area and hence didn’t seem to catch on. It seems this time around they have made some major improvements.
It appears to be Tufo
If thats the case, its interesting that it out performed the Comtura Prima TR 28.
Interested to see how the new Tufo Endurance 7 TR will do when its eventually tested, would be very interested in that in a 32-35c. Hate that my Thundero 40s roll faster than my commuter/road training tire (Cinturato Velo), more flat protection sure but just feel like a smooth 32c tire should roll faster than a 40c gravel tire.
Mondo not too much slower than Turbo t2/t5. My first few turbos met an early end but the new ones with a lighter sidewall have held up for 5k+ miles. The new ones seem to measure narrower than the old fwiw.
Mondos in 28 and 32 have measured true for me and I used them all winter, the 35 measures 33 on a 21 and 25iw rim. Might just be an odd tire.
Weight and the couple watts of RR?
Every training and race tire except for Pirelli Cinturato have been susceptible to ride ending sidewall cuts. And I was on a ride where a guy flatted his Cinturato going over potholes at 28mph.
My personal preference for road feel are the Specialized tires (S-Works, Roubaix Pro 30/32, Turbo T2/T5, Mondo).
However my current and next set of training tires are 32c S TR on the Tarmac, and 42c Pathfinders on the gravel bike. 2000 miles on the S-Works Pathfinders, not a single issue and for such a wide tire they appear to roll fast (2nd fastest 10 mile segment this year). Only 150 miles on the S TR, they have better road feel vs AS TR. Around 1500 miles into the AS TR and it sealed a pinhole leak but eventually started losing air. Couldn’t find the leak under a magnifying lens, lost patience with them and decided to try the S TR because I got a great deal. Hoping for the best.
It’s been a few years since running the Pirelli Zero Race TLR (model before Speedcore), but I recall they had good road feel, straightforward install, and good sealing after puncture. A lot of people around here are using them after trying Corsa Pros and flatting, and not wanting to pay more $$$ for the S TR.
I’m also a paying member and to my eyes the raw data shows two tires with basically the same puncture resistance.
