Another newb tubeless user here, how much sealant should there be in each tire? I just got the bike and have maybe 700 miles on it, I’ll try to top up the sealant soon as it’s been over 2 months and the days are getting warmer (and I need the practice)…but how much am I supposed to use? I noticed on the bike tire rolling resistance website the tires are tested with 30ml. Is that average? I’m a bigger rider and would prefer more sealant if that is actually beneficial.
I’ve got the KOM Cycling one, it also pushes sealant into the valve.
Orange Seal recommends simply adding sealant about once a month for the regular formula. No removal required. I’ve done that and when replacing the tire it doesn’t seem to be a problem (looks the same as if I pull off the tire after only a week or two).

I do 90ml on a new tire and 60ml on monthly top ups during the summer cycling season. 30ml will dry up very quickly IME.
I just do the shake test (shake tire near ear) and if I don’t hear fluid sloshing around I put in 60ml. I’d rather go overboard with sealant than run out. I also know that I need about 60ml per month.
I’ve done the suck the old fluid out thing once or twice but all this stuff just becomes extra work and isn’t worth the effort IMO.
Edit: Before anyone thinks I’m going crazy with the sealant - I use Orange Seal. They recommend 30-60ml for a road tire. I also shake it up which seems to put air bubbles in it, so my 90ml is probably 60ml un-shaken. My system has worked for me. No extra maintenance or cleaning of tire insides or removing and measuring sealant like a scientist. And I’d rather have extra sealant than zero. I toss the tire and old sealant when it is worn out.
I use Giant’s syringe, works fine with Stans sealant. Just remember to rinse it after you use it so that it doesn’t get bunged up with dry sealant.
I put about 50ml in each tyre and have never bothered topping up monthly as others seem to do.

Orange seal and I believe Stans have recommendations on their bottles. Orange is 30-60ml. I usually just eyeball 4 spokes (width) worth of sealant. But it also depends on the tyre. I just mounted a new front tyre Rene Herse 44 Extra light and it’s recommended to let the sealant soak into each sidewall for several hours. So I put probably way too much in it. I can hear it splash when I shake the tyre. I’d rather have too much than too little the first time around. Don’t overthink
you can find threaded funnels on the www. Much easier than a syringe when using something chunky like Stans
Appreciate the replies. I’m still running the original tires from the bike I just got this year so I’ve not even purchased any sealant. I’m going to err on the side of caution and go with regular Orange Seal. I also think I’ll have the LBS mount my first set of tubeless onto my road rims, once I replace the gravel tires on the stock rims I’ll give setting it up myself a try. I’ll probably do like you do and add a generous amount to be safe.

Don’t overthink
Have you seen the posts on this and other cycling forums? Overthinking is the default setting, lol.

You only learn by doing…
