Trek didn’t like everybody saying that Specialized had the most ridiculous pricing.

Since gen 7 is that much more aero then gen8

Jeez!!! They can keep that!!

To be fair, the lowest priced SLR full build is $8,999. Starts off at a decent price I suppose considering it’s their top of the line frame.

The fact that the Gen 8 needs aero water bottles and a more narrow handlebar to be on par with the Gen 7 is telling. Makes me wish they tested the Gen 7 with these updates. I must admit, the new bike seems like a better all arounder, but all arounders are not exciting to me.

Is that a custom Project One bike or off the shelf at that price?

According to Trek website the new bottle cages are also compatible with round bottles. Guess that means you wouldn’t necessarily be locked into a proprietary system.

Yeah, I just checked to see how they were gonna pull that off…a nice bit of engineering and substantially alters the potential adoption rate for the system.

The bottles are neat, I wonder how they look on a Gen6-7 Madone? I can’t afford a new bike, but I can maybe buy some expensive bottles lol.

They’ll likely fit the Gen 6 better. Gen 7 has a much chunkier BB with a flat top and I don’t picture them fitting well

I’m wondering the exact same thing

I updated the original post with a bunch of links to the release info.

I find it interesting how they’re comparing the new Madone to the Emonda and saying it’s faster. I mean, shouldn’t the Madone be faster? What’s next? Are they going to say the new Checkpoint is better because it can fit bigger tires than the Domane and Emonda?

17k for a f****** Trek? LOL

Prices for high end road bikes are ridiculous and getting more ridiculous but not sure why you are suggesting Trek shouldn’t price their bikes as high as other bike brands?

That price is driven by that paint, without it drops to 13,499 (still crazy IMO)

$3500 more for a bike with the same spec but a different, non custom paint job is wild.

Because it’s a production bike? Any of the standard bikes priced that high is ridiculous.

Yeah it’s odd, they’re picking and choosing stats from the Emonda and Madone to provide favorable comparisons without disclosing the unfavorable comparisons. It’s straight out of a politicians handbook.

Really though, it doesn’t matter. At 6k USD for just the frame this bike isn’t marketed to me. I’ll stick with my Gen6.

What do you mean by “production” bike? Any bike we see in the pro peloton, per the UCI, has to be sold to the general public.
