Never been that far east! Furthest is those hills just south of Eynsford otherwise I tend to stay west of Tonbridge because I cycle down from central London. Might check those out when I can ride decent distances again!
Funnily enough, I found Spanish Needle to be fairly modest. Not easy. But I’ll have to look back because I think I gave it a Moderate one time. My physiology is just suited for those efforts. I always have to increase the power targets on short/shorts.
That interesting. I’ve done the TR Brasted workout a few times in the past, but I never knew it was named after the place in Kent. I’m originally from that way, and I’ve done a handful of North Downs rides while visiting relatives. They’re tough climbs. As for York’s Hill, 12 years ago, when I was just getting into road cycling, I stupidly entered the Catford Hill Climb after hearing on a podcast that it’s the longest running race (or something like that). It was only a 3 minute effort, but crikey, I’ve never gone so deep.
Yorks is one of my favourites! First time I did it was after an overnight long haul flight, on my winter bike which is 1x. It was unexpected…
There were some other suggestions like Detling and Warren. I think Coach Chad just liked the alliteration! It’s been so long that there might be other hills that I’ve forgotten…
Do them outdoors, if you can. These are miserable on the trainer.
I do brasted on rollers.. ![]()
