New to me used 2015 Trek Emonda SL6, my paved road machine.
I’ll work on getting you some pictures this week.
I absolutely love it but sometimes wonder if I’d have been better going for the Pro instead of the Expert because I’m going to upgrade the wheels and the handlebars eventually anyway. I just added the Di2 wireless unit and a power meter will be next.
It’s such a fun bike to ride and I take it out any chance I get. I’ve probably been pushing myself a little too hard recently because I just hate taking it easy when I’m on it. The bike just wants to go fast and it holds speed really well. Sometimes it feels like cycling at 13-14mph is harder than cruising at 18-19mph, but I’m sure that’s just some kind of placebo effect or the wind forecast being wrong.
All that to say, I absolutely love it and I’m sure you will too. That blue color is outstanding.
sounds like the pro would have been better for sure. But now at least you can pick you own wheelset and bars. Depending on weather ill be taking it out for it’s maiden voyage tomorrow.
ill report back…
The blue is epic…especially in the light
Tarmac SL6 rim brake

Awesome, thank you! How are you liking the wheels so far? Any issues with them?
Really nice bike!
Love them, absolutely zero issues. I would advise against the bontrager tubeless strips and use some actual tubeless rim tape.
Interesting, why is that?
i rode mine for the first time today I have the Pro. OMG what a difference from my last bike Giant TCR from 2012…absolutely love it. Like you said it really is a rocket ship.
When you say…
on a slight diet…
What are you thinking of changing?
Also what do you think of the tyres? Thinking about upgrading to those (mainly for the sidewalls) If i had a spare £10.5k id of got that S Works…the red and black is just mmmmm so good.
Also curious. I’ve never had a complaint with the strips, or heard of any I can think of.
How do you like the wheels? They are on my shortlist for next year’s crit season on my (new to me) SL6 disc. Also considering the 45 mm version as well as the Zipp 303S. My bike currently has CLX 32’s, which are great and light, but there isn’t a ton of climbing to be had in Michigan.
Edit to add: your bike and wheels look super fast!
I could not get it to stay in place and not allow air leaks around the strip. Once I taped the wheels with actual rim tape, I was able to eliminate the daily air-ups. It could very well be me but I struggled with both wheels sealing sufficiently with the bont strips.

Only had her for one month, but she’s already logged over 1,100 miles. This pic and the frame badge are from this weekend’s successful 600 km Super Randonnee (10,000 meters of climbing).
Got it. On occasion, issues like that may be a result of the wrong size or type of strip installed in the wheel. They make a range of strip widths for different rims, and the black and white ones are meant for MTB (Blk) or Road (Wht) use, and are not interchangeable.
I’ve had good luck with the several sets of MTB and Road ones I’ve done, but I know that is not a universal experience. Good deal that you got a tape job to work at least.
Thinking of replacing the crankset with a THM Clavicula, I dont really like the power meter on the shimano one and if I switched to Assioma pedals I could drop a decent amount of weight from that alone. Also considering a Darimo seatpost, just not sure what to do about the di2 junction box since its integrated into the current one.
Minor stuff is going to be lighter thru axles, mtb rotors since they are ~10g lighter each. I am waiting on a narrower set of bars so that will make a bit of difference along with a lightweight saddle.
