My current bike - Ribble Endurance SLR. Just waiting to get the handlebars swapped out for shorter stem. Lesson to anyone getting integrated bars - for the love of god please get a bike fit first as it’s bloody expensive if you have to swap out.

WELP, picked up another project bike. I’ve probably always been a retrogrouch at heart.

I’ve been on the lookout for a higher end older steel road frame, and this one popped up, and I swept in. This is a 92 RB1; the 93 RB1 in yellow is the ultra desirable one, but this one is up there too.

This frame has a bit of a sad story. I don’t know the full details, but the seller told me that it was his friend’s who bought it new in 92. About a decade ago, he fell ill, which ultimately prompted the change from a lot of the original Shimano 600 tricolor parts to the mishmash of Mavic 631 triple, newer cockpit, XT RD, etc.

This is the “before” pic, but after I collect the remaining 600 pieces, I’ll be doing a full frame-up resto and will update in a few months.

Weighs 25 lbs on the nose without pedals…so far so good. I think it’s the race bike for 2024…much pointier than the Rocky Mountain Element I was racing last year. Incredibly fun bike, not great for racing.

Lauf Seigla Weekend Warrior Wireless in Silfra blue. Swapped out the wheels for Hunt Gravel 35 X-Wide with Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H 45m tires, and the saddle for a Specialized Power with Mirror. Waxed chain.

First ride was inside due to a bunch of rain and wife being out / watching kiddos. Fit seems dialed in to my endurance road bike, but with a shorter stem (net reach about 15 mm shorter). Need to get a couple of outdoor rides in before deciding to keep it or go longer. Can’t wait to get it dirty!

Bruh you need to put a NSFW warning on that. What a beaut!

The frameset with this paintjob is easily among the top three bikes I have ever seen. Simply stunning.
Very nice build as well! Happy riding!
