Am I doing something wrong or is the data sent to Garmin Connect different to what is sent to Strava?
I did Garrowby -3 yesterday in ERG mode like always, and Trainerroad uploaded the training to Strava as usual and calculated a distance of 32,76 kilometres which sounds about right.
I recently started using Garmin Connect because I bought a Fenix 7 pro watch and I noticed the same exact ride uploaded to Garmin is just 20,4 kilometres, which is just the trainer’s speed without the ERG mode adjustments Trainerroad made to my Strava upload.
Am I missing some setting I’ve got wrong or is this a bug? I would like the “adjusted to power” ERG corrected distance on both platforms to be the same.

You can edit the file in Garmin Connect. If you want more distance, use a harder gear or spin a faster cadence.
Yeah I know you can manually adjust it but it would be a lot easier if it just uploaded the same data to Garmin Connect. It adjusts the data for Strava so why not Garmin Connect.
I’m using the gear with the best chain line so it’s quieter.

I get the opposite issue. My Garmin Connect distance is usually much longer than the Strava distance.
That option only applies to Strava, no other output service.

So I’m guessing this isn’t something they are planning to “fix”?
That’s a shame. I guess I’ll just have to manually change it every time to log the same data on both platforms.

Its not real distance anyway. Your far better to simply train by duration.

Let’s not go down that rabbit hole, please. There are several reasons people want this info (especially to match between services) so it’s largely irrelevant as to the ‘why’ behind that.

32.67 km =20.4 miles. I would look how strava and garmin are managing the units
Very sharp! But both apps are in metric, that’s not it. I think it’s like @mcneese.chad said, it’s only implemented for Strava right now.
The other way around would have been handy, letting Strava sync to Garmin Connect after it receives my adjusted TR ride but that’s not an option either sadly.
@MeMeToo I know hours are more important but with 2 kids and a full time job hours are hard to come by. I just want to log the (closest guess) in kilometers I could have ridden if I had the time and it would be convenient if I didn’t have to manually adjust that guess. Plus I find doing my TR rides indoors to be easier and convenient. I start training once the kids are asleep.
What smart trainer are you using?
I ask because if it’s a wahoo then you could turn on wahoos “on device” ERG distance estimation and turn off TrainerRoad’s. It does a similar thing where it uses an equation to estimate the distance based on power output.
That way the Strava and Garmin distances would be the same.

Just to re affirm your experience with mine;
Kickr ERG mode,Garrowby, 6 km difference between Strava and Garmin Connect

Turn this on and then you will be doing the speed estimation at source on the data coming from the trainer. Then you can turn off TrainerRoad’s estimation and get identical distances on Strava and Connect and any other service you send the fit file too.
Turn off the smoothing while you are there… no idea why it’s on by default…

Thanks! This sounds like a great solution! I’ll give it a try right away I’ve got some Sweet Spot on my schedule tonight!
Remember to turn off the TrainerRoad speed estimation on the Strava link because that takes priority
You will want to select the option to send device speed like below…
