What are thoughts and advice on TR for long ride goals such at Garmin Gravel Worlds 300 in Nebraska? If you’re a time crunched gravel dad are hour workouts and some long weekend rides enough?
there is a really good book, that answers all your questions in great detail it is called “the time crunched cyclist” written by chris carmichiael.
and yes trainerroad is one of the best systems for that approach.
Search Unbound Gravel or gran condo on the forum. There is loads of information and debate here
Typo as fixed above.
Enough for what? To finish, sure. To compete, no.
I did that ride a couple years ago and mostly used TR but I did do long gravel rides on the weekends. I finished the ride which was my goal and had a really good time. Its a great event. The course has a lot of punchy little climbs which you then coast down so make sure you are doing something to train for doing that.
This sounds so exciting!
Great question! It sounds like you’re in exactly the right place . TrainerRoad can absolutely help you prepare for an epic event like the Garmin Gravel Worlds 300, even with a busy schedule. You can leverage structured (and efficient) training with Plan Builder to target the specific demands of your event.
How Plan Builder Helps:
Specificity is the key to effective training. The most important factor in how to train for an event is by the type of efforts you’ll be doing during it. This means with the right workouts you can specifically train for long events, without doing a lot of extremely long rides.
For an endurance challenge like Gravel Worlds, your custom training plan will focus on developing the energy systems you’ll rely on. Your custom training plan will ensure you build durable, versatile endurance, and it’ll prepare you for the shorter surges and climbs with some VO2 max and Threshold intervals.
You may wish to ocassionally include longer rides to practice your nutrition and dial in your race day setup. Dialing in these aspects could make a big difference.
You’re in good hands . Lets us know if you have any questions!
