Tour de France 2021! (spoilers)

Carapez looked savage at the end of last year.

We haven’t even completed Stage 3 yet, so early days, anything could happen.

So what do we think? Dislocated shoulder popped back in?

Their team is saying neither of them is racing for GC, both are going for stages. Yates in particular is likely to just hang out until the third week and then try to get in a mountain break for a stage win

I think there’s a chance that Pog and Rog mark themselves out and Carapaz does what he did in the Giro with Rog and Nibali staring at each other.

We call it ‘doing a Talansky’. But, anyhow, we’ll see how things shape up at the time trial.

It’s darn hard to TT well with a bunged up shoulder. :grimacing: Who knows? By the time we’re half way through week 2 Porte may be the Ineos leader.

BTW…what if Cav wins today? Can you imagine the celebration that will ensue after that victory? I don’t think he’s going to win but if he does that’s gonna turn the Wolfpack Bus into the Venga Bus for a little while.

I wish I could have been in the room when Cav got the call he was going to the TdF.

That’s what the French commentator said, I don’t know where their info came from…

Agreed…but the difference is that in 2019, Carapaz wasn’t seen as a major threat to the overall. That is why he needed the other 3 guys to be close on time so that he could get some rope. Now that is gone and he’ll have to do it his own…he is, IMO, at best level with Pog & Rog in the mountains. And he’ll lose time in the TT to them. So they could even let him go a bit and still not be too worried.

Carapaz was always on the Tour team, Bernal wasn’t…and with his dodgy back, losing form towards the end of the Giro and the near-impossibility of pulling off the Giro-Tour double, there was no chance bernal was going to bump Carapaz from the Tour team.

Outstanding.

Is there a good video/headshot of the G crash? I saw the NBCSN clip but you can’t really tell how it happened. Seemed like the pace was relaxed and not much was happening at the time of the crash.

Anyone know if the Peacock premium 5$ plan has ads for the TdF as well?

Roglic likely to lose time here

Damn, I just hope Jumbo comes out of this first week without any terrible injuries.

…and I thought crit crashes were bad this year.

No ads.

They have 2 feeds, Euro and US announcers. I haven’t been tuned in to the US version, but the Euro stream is ad free.

Have the Euro feed on Peacock as well. No ads and better announcers.

This sucks…you don’t want accidents to become the main factor for the GC race. Of course you have all the simpletons saying “this is racing” :no_mouth:

The $10 plan doesn’t have ads

As I said above, I thought the crit races were especially bad this year. Yikes!

They’ll only have half the field left by the end of the first week at this rate.

Horrible mistake with horrible consequences by Ewan.

Hope he and Sagan are both ok.

Not only that one, but whoever was down on the crash before that on the downhill left hander.

There are a bunch of people I hope that are okay.
