Is it possible to toggle the master’s plan on & off in the middle of a block? I’m 58 and I try to do the regular plans but sometimes the fatigue catches up to me. I know I can just change the workout but it would be nice to know which workout I should be doing.
Go into your training plan and click edit.
Then it should take you to the Plan Builder page - “Training Schedule”
Click Setting and toggle Masters Plan
Yes. You can always edit a plan. It will take up from where you are and modify the rest of the plan with your new inputs.
I’d like to toggle to a masters plan on weeks I’m feeling fatigued and do a normal plan on weeks that I feel good. Sometimes 3 days of intensity a week are just too much.
You’ll need to toggle it on or off for each week depending on how you’re feeling.
The other options include doing an endurance workout on which ever intensity day you want to skip (Masters Plans usually skip Thursday), stay on the Masters Plans and use TrainNow when you want more intensity (maybe Thursdays?), use Workout Alternates, or just pick a different workout when you want something different.
I believe TR would recommend you just use a plain Masters Plan because you’ll be able to stick with it and not develop long term fatigue. Consistency is key!
I’ve tried the master’s plan and I felt it wasnt enough intensity but the regular plans can be a little too much. Usually I start to feel fatigued the 3rd week of a block but if I just switch to an easier workout on an intensity day, I get adaptions up the ying yang.
I forget what it’s called but you could use the slider in setting up the plan that adjusts how quickly you progress to harder workouts. (I’m on my phone and can’t see the screen now).
I get what you are asking for. For some reason alot of coaches and coaching platforms are very rigid in structure, because……
I self coach, and often in a 3 week on, 1 week off block I will schedule 3 interval days in weeks 1 and 3, and 2 in week 2. Dropping that 1 interval session in week 2 seems to improve the quality of all the 3rd week.
That is a great idea, Im will try that on the next block.
@craigmanning here are instructions on how to “Edit Weekly Schedule”
How to Edit Your Training Plan Schedule
Also, I see you have “Other Activity” afternoon workouts. Are those gym sessions by chance? If they are, I feel you could try shifting those to other days, so on rest days, you are actually resting and get a chance to recover. Having an activity every day of the week (except Sundays), could be the reason why you’re feeling tired by week 3 of a training block.
Integrating Strength Training
Yeah they are gym sessions but I have to do them on certain days due to my schedule. I train early sunday and take 1/2 sunday and monday off.
Looks cool! I like that it adjusts to your performance. Has anyone tried it yet?
